Have been here several times and each visit is the same, disappointing. The food is subpar and could use some attention in the quality and taste department. I’ve had several different menu items and the best thing they have is the acai bowl but that’s probably because they don’t make it in house. The wait staff couldn’t be bothered to go above their minimum job requirements and sometimes they even struggle to reach the minimum. Wait times are long for seating, service, drinks and food. Probably their only redeeming quality is the space they have available for any size group including an outdoor patio and an indoor party room. I’ve had various party sizes from two to 30. Don’t count on them being ecstatic about seating a large group tho as it seems they don’t want the extra “headache” of a large group. I have noticed however, that if you’re a regular or an “in” individual they do give you special treatment. You’ll be seated, waited and served all with haste and priority. In short, there’s nothing extraordinary about the Broken Yolk. Just another restaurant. There’s definitely better places in town that offer a higher quality experience that deserve your patronage.

Food was delicious. The wait time left a lot to be desired. 15 minutes till we received one soda. My friend never got her coffee. The mimosas left a lot to be desired.

Good experience, great food, good for family get togethers.

Good food and great service. I wish their hours of operation were longer as a lot of people like breakfast for lunch & dinner too. I would recommend this place to friends and family. Great selection of items on the menu.

This is my second time eating at this restaurant, the first time was not a good experience at all. Long story short, our waitress was very rude to my friend & I . We had our children with us & wanted to try that place for the first time & was excited for some mimosas. When served ( mimosa flight ) they were NOT cold . Extremely warm. & I didn’t even get to bring it to attention because our waitress NEVER came back to our table , I had to ask another girl who responded irritated saying “ well whose your waitress “ & when she went to find her, they kept staring @ our table & we’re laughing at us. lol! Not to mention, it was no where near closing time & we ordered a crepe to share ( since we were drinking warm mimosas ) & when it was brought to us, it was packaged / in a bag to go . I said we didn’t order to go she said “ oh you didn’t ? “ & walked away.Today’s experience was a BIT better for my husband & I , we wanted to give another try since it’s been a few months . the waitress today was nice & actually checked on our table. + the mimosa was cold this time! BUT it was an IMMEDIATE unwelcomed feeling when we walked in to wait to be seated. The girl ( 1:12pm ) That seated us didn’t even look at us, say hello, NOTHING . Jst walked away & ASSUMEED we knew to follow her before she said “ come on “ then jst placed out stuff on the table &! Walked away before I can even ask for a booster ( I have a 1 yr old ).Then I noticed buisness hours are 2pm . Why would you guys lock the doors @ 1:40? Coming from another manager ( myself ) doors do not get locked up, in your case, 2 PM! An old man was trying to come in @ 1:50 & they did NOT let him inside. They told him RUDELY when he asked why the doors were locked before 2 ( he obviously knew closing was @ 2 so I’m sure he jst wanted something quick ) the lady said “ well we close the kitchen @ 1:45 so nobody’s allowed to order so we can leave by 2:00 “ whilst making him leave . I’m sure NO ONE leaves at 2 due to CLOSING. & if that’s true, it must be VERY insanitary. Your employees have NO customer service skills. No politeness, nothings. They could’ve served that man a long time ago instead of chit chatting in the bar & disappearing. We will not be returning.

Great friendly service. Would definitely go back

In a very short time this place has gone EXTREMELY downhill. This used to be our go-to place for brunch. Probably 25 visits total since they opened. After these last 3 visits have been absolutely subpar, it's clear evidence that the downward spiral will continue until it is equal to that of a Waffle House.Due to this last visit, I doubt we will be back.Slow service: watching out waiter (Jr.) talk and laugh for 15 mins at a time at the bar, then disappearing in the back for another 15. I think he checked in maybe 3 times over 2.5 hours.Inconsistent quality: food and drinks are constantly changing ingredients and getting lower in quality. Bloody Mary used to be the best I've ever had, now it is garbage with a bacon slice and rimmed with Tajin.Bathrooms seem to not have been serviced in at least a week. Paper towels all over the floor, broken sink, gross floor, urinal covered in trash, and at least 3 air fresheners placed to mask the smell.I was really hoping this place would make a comeback, but it's apparent things need to change very soon or it will not last.

Broken Yolk is usually fine, my kids enjoyed their meal, but mine was pretty bad. I got the chorizo scramble but I'm not sure how much chorizo was actually in it. The rice was cold. The beans were cold and crusty. Literally the worst food I've had at a restaurant in a really long time. Our server, however, was very nice and took care of us well. I don't send food back so I ate cold eggs and left the majority of the rest on the plate. This wasn't the worst food I've ever had but it's down in that area.

My sweet son comes all the way from Santa Monica. He takes me to the broken yolk. I always get the BLT with extra mayo and the onion rings are absolutely pure passion. Extra ranch please.

Update from 1/2/22So my wife have have been back twice since our last disastrous visits and we have good news....they have got their game back! Our hostess was Jenna and she was very pleasant and with the place really hopping we ordered and got our meals in a very reasonable amount of time. My California Benedict was excellent with the poached eggs cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was spot on. I liked their new thin sliced "home style" potatoes but would have been better with sauteed onions and some more seasoning. While a little bland they were still good and my wife's hash browns were the right ratio of crispy and soft. Her over easy eggs were good. Overall much better with our past two visits. I deleted my old photos and included a new one so you can see the properly cooked poached eggs. Keep up the good work!My previous review....I sadly have to revise my review from two years ago. This past year my wife and I have watched a continuous degradation in service and food preparation. Our last three visits, including the one this morning, was rife with lengthy service delays and entre delivery time of over 30 minutes while not all that busy (say 60%). The hallmark of the last three visits were improperly cooked eggs, missing ingredients and order requests that were not complied with. Today was the last straw. My wife ordered eggs over easy and they could not have been more hard cooked had they tried. How it was plated that way and not checked is beyond me. Most people from 50 feet away could have seen the eggs were cooked to smithereens. My Golden State Benedict was missing avocado, had poached eggs that were as hard as my wife's over easy eggs, the hollandaise sauce was "broken" and lumpy and my toast was burnt to crouton level. There was so much wrong with our order we advised a server that we were not going to hang around to have everything remade and advised we were leaving. We have really enjoyed eating at the Broken Yolk but can't see going back until we know there is better control over the back of the house and better guidance for the front of the house. Let me know when changes have been made and we will be back. Update 6/15 so we were in the area and hoped, one more time, that we would get what we ordered and nope, same poor preparation. My Golden State Benedict came without sirarcha (orderd on the side) and way too much hollandaise sauce with almost completely hard cooked poached eggs. My wife again got 90% hard cooked over-easy eggs, burnt toast and sausage that looked cooked on the outside but was greasy and undercooked on the inside. I attached those pictures.
