This is our go to place for Mexican food. For years we have been coming since it was the small storefront down the street and had to wait in line for tables to the huge space nowadays. They serve the best Chili Relleno I have found and always good food with great chips and salsa. There is a wait to get food to go but it's worth it. Will definitely continue coming for our Mexican food.
Ask for German; tell him Scott and Jenn sent you. Small bar but huge hearts and good folks, they have two pool tables music is a mixture of Spanish and English, they don't serve stiff drinks, but the price of their beers are great, and the beer is ice cold.
I don't recommend this place if you're looking forward to authentic Toltec / Mexican food. My Compuesta had a total of 4 shrimp, mostly iceberg lettuce, two large tomato slices, refried beans, American yellow cheese, and ranch dressing inside a flour tortilla shell.
This was our 1st and only visit to this place, my enchiladas and hard tacos looked like they came out of a box, and we were told that if the Owners see us with soda water on our cups instead of just plain water they will make us throw our drinks away. Poor customer service, not authentic mexican, don't waste your money go somewhere else.
If you want truly authentic Mexican food, this is the perfect place. Prices are very reasonable and the menu is awesome. Associates are very friendly and eager to help. To go is also available.
I had business in Azusa and I wanted to go to lunch with my team. I asked my lead to pick a place and he suggested La Tolteca. He told me the retirees go there periodically for lunch. The restaurant is huge and could handle quite a crowd. But while we were there it wasn’t packed; just reasonably busy. You order at a counter and then they bring you your food. You can get breakfast until noon and the other guy I was with got the chorizo with eggs and tortillas. It looked good. I got Carne Asada and a Chile Relleno. The asada was ok; not particularly flavorful or tender but it was decent. The Chile Relleno on the other hand was excellent. Lightly breaded, filled with cheese and the chile had a great flavor. I love Chile Rellenos and this one was right up there. The prices were very reasonable and had a good time. I’d go back again.
Very large (warehouse feeling) rather impersonal Mexican Restaurant. Must place order and pay before finding your own seat. Then food is brought to your table. Can prepay for drinks or order and pay at the bar. Chips can be ordered or comes with a “meal” price. Salsa was too spicy for me, as was the salad - grilled shrimp was ok, but charred and tasted kind of burned.
Family tradition.. Been going here for years..Food is always great drinks are always cold.. good services. $$
