My husband and I were in town for a mid-week getaway, and happened upon this restaurant’s name while searching for a place to eat for dinner. The reviews all mentioned terrific food and great service, so we decided to test it out for ourselves. We are so HAPPY we did!!!The place was fairly busy for a Wednesday evening, but we were still seated within a few minutes of coming through the doors. The decor of the place was very appealing, and the staff was absolutely fabulous…very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. There are a lot of options on the menu, and we had a hard time deciding on what to order. Ultimately, my husband decided on the Pina Loca, which was shrimp, pineapple, onions, peppers, squash, a cream sauce and queso blanco, served on a hot platter inside of a hollowed out pineapple half. It smelled incredible, and for a moment, I felt sad I hadn’t selected that, too. My husband was very delighted with his choice, and I tasted it, too, and it was delicious!I decided on the Chicken and Steak molcajete. It, too, was so incredible, and smelled like heaven when it arrived at the table. The heated mortar they served it in kept it hot through the whole time we were there. It had the most tender chicken and beef pieces, with grilled chiles, a roasted jalapeño, a green sauce that was to die for, beans, and queso on top.Throughout our meal, the staff checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Our server Brooke was so wonderful. The only thing bad about our meal was not being able to eat every bite! But then, that means I get to have leftovers for tomorrow. ☺️
I was let down...by so many others! This was the BEST MEXICAN I've had in Auburn so far!!! I had the steak burrito plate, and was going to order to go but the wonderful hostess (Hannah) talked me into staying and dining in. That carne was done perfectly! Juicy, charred, taste like it was done on an outdoor grill and tender!!! Def appreciate this stop on my busy work day, and enjoyed actual Mexican music and a very happy vibe dining in. Oh and it was super fast service...for everyone that came in.
El Tapatio restaurant in Auburn showcases the very best of Mexican food. I've tried many restaurants and taquerias in northern and southern California, and El Tapatio outshines them all. Their menu is large and offers everything from typical dishes like enchiladas, tacos, and carne asada to more exotic ones like pollo a la crema or aguachiles. This food is made with love.
The menu is huge, the amount of food is generous, the food is flavorful and the margaritas are strong. What more could you want from a Mexican restaurant? El Tapatio uses traditional family recipes from Cuautla, Jalisco Mexico and only use the freshest ingredients. They've even switched to healthier options without sacrificing the quality or taste. They do not use lard in their refried beans or any canned products. El Tapatio is famous for their molcajete. Which is served on a 510° lava rock. The enchilada nachos paired perfectly with the house margaritas. This would be a great date spot to share an appetizer and adult beverage. On select evenings, there is live music and dancing. First time here. The place is well decorated and pretty big for a local restaurant. We ordered the Molcajete with steak and chicken and their burrito Mazatlan with shrimp. They were both good. All burritos are smothered and thsi one has a yummy green sauce. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the steak meat on the Molcajete, it didn't taste authentic to me. I loved their refried beans, melty cheese, jalapeños toreados, grilled chicken, salsa de molcajete, Mexican Coke, rice, hand made corn tortillas, basically everything else except the steak/carne asada. There is something about the flavor that was not authentic to me. We will come back for sure. Their menu has so many options to choose from. I recommend you try this place. They will also be having a DJ guest on Taco Tuesdays in April.
This is definitely one of my favorite Mexican places in Auburn. If not the best. The ambience is authentic. The food is amazing. And the staff is exceptional. If you haven’t been definitely worth giving a shot. You will be impressed. Besides you can’t always eat taco tree.
My family and I ate here and was happy with the service, large menu selections, hot chips and sauce while reviewing the menu, and our waitress was pleasant and helpful with our questions. Our order was taken timely and accurately, and every item was prepared to perfection. Highly recommend.
Had a great dinner out with my parents. Got the 3 item combo. Very good. One of the best margaritas I have had in a long time as well.
A little pricey but its worth the food cause it's super good. And the service is quick and thorough. Great service!Okay so I'm here for a second time now and we got the sampler platter, WAY better than. The regular entrees are alright.
Weird experience. I never comain, but this was my first time out in a very long time, and the person serving us was impatient as heck. He would not give us an opportunity to say what we needed. Overall, it was very off-putting. At least the strawberry daiquiri was delicious, and the food was okay. Although overall, in my opinion, it was not worth the $$money$$.
