I don’t understand all the positive reviews for this place! We got a chicken pot pie dinner and the southern fried chicken dinner, and they were both bland and tasteless. The green beans were so pale and bland as well. And I will be very surprised if the mashed potatoes were not from a box (they had the texture and aftertaste of the traditional dehydrated mashed potatoes many of us grew up on).We would not have been surprised if Gordon Ramsey popped out of one of the booths and took off his disguise to announce this restaurant was on one of his makeover shows.Considering the other amazing food in this same neighborhood, I really don’t understand why this place is so highly rated.
Arcadia has a plethora of old restaurants - ie, restaurants that have been around for many years. The Derby is one, Rod's is another, and then there's Moffett's. I can remember going there in high school with my folks and my dad always had to have their chicken pot pie. This is such a special place, like a place your grandparents would go to, and it has a great family atmosphere. Pricing is reasonable. Give yourself a treat and go - and take grandma with you!
First time here. They've been in this spot since the year I was born, apparently. Burger was really good. Everything was fresh, flavorful and the portion size was hearty. Service was quick, place seems clean. I'm going to try one of their pot pies next time.
I have never dined there in person, but we have their pot pies all the time at my house. I cannot emphasize enough how good their pot pies are. I’m no pot pie expert, but their pot pies are the best pot pies I’ve ever had, and they make me so unbelievably happy.
O.M.G. Best home made pies anywhere. There pumpkin pie is too good and there food is just amazing. If you're looking for a nice home cooked meal then this is the place.....
Normally, I rate this restaurant 5 stars, but the last two orders for pickup/to-go were incorrect. I did not get bread, but got two biscuits and there was no gravy on the mashed potatoes. First order, they gave me two pot pies, but not all white meat as instructed and paid extra for -and one was frozen and not cooked!
Awesome comfort food from my childhood.
Prices have gone up, quality has gone down. Now I get the price increase because everything has gone up lately. I used to live in Southern CA. I now live in Oregon. Whenever I come back to visit I stop by Moffetts to take some chicken pies back home with me. I was in CA last October and the chicken pies I bought are not as good as they used to be. The chicken pieces were either over cooked or it was a bad chicken. The pieces in the pies are so tough to chew, my wife and I have to pick out the pieces and throw them away. Unfortunately this will be my last order as it is to expensive to just throw the chicken pieces away. Maybe I just got a bad batch.
This is comfort food in the classic tradition. My wife had a beef pot pie and for myself, a classic french dip. Tasted exactly how it should. Brought back memories of how food was made 40 years ago. Service was good. Restaurant is a bit dated, but the food is fine.
Moffett’s has been around for as long as I can remember and the quality has never changed. The chicken pot pies is what they are known for and I can’t emphasize enough how delicious these things are, you will just have to stop by and try them for yourself. What I love about the pies is they have options, they offer white meat or dark meat, and they also offer them cooked and ready to enjoy or refrigerated and ready to cook at home. If you get them to cook at home they come with detailed instructions so you can’t mess it up.If you’re like me detailed instructions are a must lolI’ve also had some of the other items on the menu and one of my favs is the avocado burger, it’s so juicy and big (how I like it). The french fries are always cooked perfect, not too crispy but not to soft… and I love me some good french fries.Moffett’s is not modern or up to date but that’s what makes Moffett’s such a cool place, It has this old diner feel. The countertops are low with seats facing the cooking/serving area that have chairs that turn from side to side giving you the diner feel. The staff is always friendly and ready to serve, they are very accommodating.Location:In plaza next to Aldi and CVS off Baldwin and Naomi. Parking is extremely easy since the plaza has a huge parking lot.If you’re ever in the area, stop by and pick up some warm chicken pot pies or some cold ones and heat them at home.Enjoy!
