We ate Caterpillar rolls and Katsu don which were too sweet. Caterpillar roll’s source taste like Otafuku source or Takoyaki source. Furikake is on the top of Katsu don.If you stick to sushi, it might be good.If you are looking for a legit Japanese food, this is not your place.
It was a Saturday and we wanted to take advantage of sushi lunch specials. Did a quick search on Yelp and decided to give Maki & Sushi a try in Arcadia. Its located in a big plaza so there was plenty of parking. We opted to sit outside. We were given menus and unfortunately, lunch is only served Monday to Friday. Bummer. But since we were able there we stayed. We ended up ordering the spicy sashimi bibimbap and the Sashimi & Sushi combo. Both came with complimentary miso soup. I thought the soup was a bit on the salty side. My sashimi & sushi combo arrived first. It came with a salad (which I opted for ginger dressing) which was very yummy and refreshing. I got 10 pieces of sashimi that consisted of salmon, tuna, escolar, yellowtail and albacore (2 pc each) and 5 pieces of nigiri sushi of the same fish plus a bowl of rice. The sashimi and sushi was just ok, a bit on the fishy side. The spicy sashimi bibimbap was huge has lots of cubed fish pieces, spring salad mix, rice, gochuchang. Felt like it was missing something so we asked for some sesame oil which did the trick for the taste. The fish was a bit on the warm side though. Huge portion so that couldn't finish it so we asked for a box and a bag of ice (since we weren't going straight home). They were reluctant to provide the ice first but ultimately came back with a bag of ice which was nice of them. Prices were reasonable for sushi. Service was good. Our waitress came over a few times to check on us.
This place was recommended and it did not disappoint ?. The food was delicious and the servers were very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back again.
Felt very fresh. Whole family loved it. We brought my mother who is in a wheelchair. Recommend going early to avoid a wait.
Do NOT order takeout from here. We ordered food from here at 5:30pm and, after waiting at home for 1.5 hours and at the restaurant for another hour, we got an incomplete order. Never again. Not even a sorry for the time they wasted.Full story: When we ordered food from Maki & Sushi, they put us on hold for 15 minutes and did not pick up the phone afterwards. After we waited an hour and 35 minutes for the DoorDash order to be prepared, we arrived at Maki & Sushi only to find that they do not check their online orders. We waited another 30 minutes for them to make our order wrong and leave out two of our entrées. Good thing we checked; otherwise, we would never have gotten our food with their poor customer service and complete irresponsiveness.Throughout all of this, they did not even apologize or offer to cancel our order for a refund. I am never ordering from here again, and I would highly recommend against anyone getting food from here.Terrible restaurant.
I've been here a couple of times, the food is pretty good I have no complaint. Now the customer service is a thumbs down.I usually order for takeout, ALL the times that I've been there while I'm in the middle of ordering the cashier just leaves to go sit someone down ( they don't even acknowledge you to say excuse me let me go sit these people down, NOTHING) I always notice that I get cut off by that or by them having a conversation with a customer coming in for dine in.While I'm just there trying to order some food, I find that extremely rude... did no one teach these girls some manners or what? Also like 3 weeks ago I went and I ordered the bento box and the cashier asked me what dressing I wanted for my salad I told her "peanut" well when I get home I see that she gave me ginger instead like????Then yesterday I went in again ordered the bento box and the same thing as always I was cut off felt rushed... whatever...Im used to it.When I get home I remember that the girl in the front didn't even ask me what type of dressing I wanted like they always do and made the decision for me and gave me ginger lol ....Maybe if she wouldn't have been so distracted she would've remembered as it is her obligation and not mine to tell me about the dressing that I would like.
Wow! Very high quality sushi at this place! You can tell right away from the quality of the ginger they use. There might be a line to wait for a table but it is totally worth it. The specialty rolls have some great unique combinations and they are plenty big for the price. Our waitress was very nice and the food came out super quick for how busy it was. Tons of take out orders and they still manage to take care of the dine in customers at a great pace. The restaurant has some really cool decor and a great vibe. It’s a little small and the tables are packed pretty close so be aware if you don’t want to sit close to other people. Definitely check this place out!!
We had a dinner her and the food was really good. We tried sushis, and chicken yakiudon. Both were tasty
They made me wait even though there were tables empty. After waiting 20 minutes I asked why I can't sit as I am one person and there is no reason I wait for 5 people parties leave, the waiter told me I can leave if I don't like it politely (!). They like keeping tables empty due to covid and so called short staffed busy-ness. Disrespectful staff.
