After spending several hours wandering around the Westfield Santa Anita Mall stopped in at Din Tai Fung for lunch. Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese and Chinese eatery. During my travels around the world, I have had the opportunity to eat at Din Tai Fung restaurants in several different countries. Each meal has been a remarkable experience with excellent service and outstanding food. Din Tai Fung was founded in Taipei, Taiwan in 1958. In 1972, it transitioned into a full-fledged restaurant specializing in soup dumplings and noodles. The restaurant was soon winning rave reviews from all over the world. The tradition of Din Tai Fung continues today in its locations in the United States, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Thailand. The Hong Kong branch has been awarded a Michelin star five times. Din Tai Fung currently has over 170 locations in 13 countries worldwide. This Chinese dumpling house has an extensive menu that includes Juicy Pork. Soup. Red Bean, Crab, Shrimp and Pork Dumplings. Other favorite items listed on the menu consists of Beef Noodle, Spicy and Sour Soup; Pork Chop or Shrimp Fried Rice; Spicy Wontons and Rice cakes. All meal items are reasonably priced and excellent in taste. Place my order for 1 serving of Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, and Jidori Chicken Dumplings. Both items consist of 10 pieces per serving. For the main course ordered Noodles with diced beef & Szechuan peppers. The Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao is outstanding. The pork’s flavor is enhanced by the sweetness of the crab resulting in a rich but mellow taste. Super good taste and filling. The Chicken dumplings are stuffed with chicken and sweet onions packed into handmade dumplings. Extremely tasty. The main course of Noodle with beef and peppers was amazing. Was impressed by the plating and the presentation of this meal. Received a large plate of thin noodles covered with beef, tomatoes, bean curd, cilantro, and the Szechuan peppers. Be advised these peppers are not spicy hot but do pack a punch. A fantastic meal with exceptional tasty and quality. Due to the large amount of food, was unable to consume it all. Upon request a container was provided for the Pork Xiao and dumplings not consumed. These made a tasty late-night snack. Restaurant is very neat, clean, with excellent customer service. Chopsticks are the norm, and you must ask for a fork if you need one. Looking forward to returning to Din Tai Fung in the future for great meal. Highly recommend the establishment if you are in the mood for a good Oriental meal.
Great food, excellent service
I enjoyed every detail of the restaurant, from the amazing service to the design of the place inside and out. I went with my family, and I have to say that our server Hailey was absolutely helpful and patient with us. It was our first time and to see all the chefs preparing the food it's a great touch. The taste is diverse and delightful and the quality is at the top.
Let's just take a minute to appreciate every single staff on how very welcoming and friendly and the respect they give their customers. Had brunch here with my family and as always it was AMAZING ? if you haven't tried Din Tai Fung yet your honestly missing out! Even if your not sure about trying new food, TRY IT! Do book reservations if you don't mind waiting 2 hours without reservations, but must I say it's worth the wait lol. You can only book online. No phone calls, only if your calling to place a to go order. Thee best dumplings I have tried! Desert is a must!?
Fantastic, but expensive, Dim sum restaurant. Located in a mall, it still had excellent decor and thevstaff were great. We tried many of the steamed buns and dumplings. We also tried the cucumber salad, the string beans, and the bok choy, all of which were great. The dumplings were all made on site and were delivered to the table hot, in their steaming baskets. The restaurant was large but still filled, which I believe is a testimonial to the quality and local following. I would visit again, but not too often as it was expensive.
This place is like a high-end dim sum restaurant! I’m used to the small ones where most workers have a hard time speaking English or don’t at all, but this place is the Americanized type!So far, the stuff we ordered tasted authentic! Cucumber salad is a must to get as an appetizer. It’s crunchy, refreshing and tasty!Gotta try the vegan noodles with spicy sauce.Kurobuta pork bun, shrimp & kurobuta pork dumplings and shrimp fried rice were delicious too!PLEASE TRY THE CHOCOLATE & MOCHI XIAO LONG BAE! It may be on the “super” sweet side but I’m crazy for desserts and always get 2 orders! (10 pieces) ?Our server was amazing, and all the workers are super friendly.Overall experience, 6/5 (if that’s possible)?
This was my 1st time here. Friendly and yummy food. Waiter gave me great suggestions.
It was my first time here but the foods are so good, lots of choices and the staff are all friendly and nice. Though so crowded and always full of people, they manage the customers on the queue to be treated fairly and well. Good job. Highly recommended
Quick SummaryIt's a successful chain for a reason. Din Tai Fung has mastered the dumpling dining experience to a science. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Try to book a reservation, or else try their walk-in during down times (you may be waiting for hours without a reservation during the weekends)Food- 5 starsEverything here is very good. I particularly like the crab and pork XLB (dumplings), pork chop fried rice, Jidori chicken soup, and beef noodle soup. The spicy dumplings are popular and good, but I prefer the above 4 more.Service- 5 starsEveryone treats you like royalty here.Bottom LineExcellent food, service, and ambiance. Always a great meal when at Din Tai Fung
