Wow, what can I say? Sylvia's was wonderful, my first time there and it was really lovely. It has a very homey atmosphere, from the paper menus to the soft murmers or people talking. The waitstaff are so friendly and helpful, really the sweetest people! Now the food. I cannot praise enough! We tried the German potato soup, which was super creamy and thick (thick enough that I could use a fork!) With bits of potatoes and you can really taste the smoky bacon flavor. The dishes are huge (at least for me) and well worth the price. I got the chorizo omelet and had to take it home! The fries and tuna melt were excellent as well. The fries super crisp but still soft inside and the tuna melt not greasy! All in all. A wonderful spot to eat!
The food had always been good and served quickly however once got the Pancakes cut into them, it was very raw in middle an then Pancakes had a weird unpleasant smell to them as if was a bucket of old dish water smelled like mildew, it was very weird. My appetite quickly stopped because of the smell coming from the Pancakes, I try to eat my other breakfast, my eggs and potatoes bacon but this Pancakes experience, I don't plan to return just was gross for me. Didn't even mention anything because I won't return since I had a raw cooked pancake, know mistakes do happen but I don't want to take the risk of getting sick from anything else that might not be cooked properly.
4/21/22The Corned Beef Hash was back on the Daily Specials Menu this week! Delicious homemade Corned Beef, scrambled eggs and Hash Browns!Today's special, Deb's wrap and creamy chicken and mushroom soup was a great choice for lunch today!I had the "Carl's" omelette with a huge pancake and toast. Delicious and generous portions!
I really do like this place. We don't come often, but have visited for years. Sat quickly, offered drinks right away, food was good, & portions are overwhelming (in a good way)!! I had the country fried steak with eggs/hash browns/ biscuits & my friend ordered the club sandwich with fries. Both of our plates were more than enough food for TWO significant portions each, so you definitely get your money's worth. We paid ~$46 (tip included) for the two meals + coffee. 4/5 stars as of today because you do wait a little while for food & the gravy wasn't the best I've had, but still good. I'd give 4.5 if I could!
Food awesome service amazing great place for take breakfast with family or friends
Love this family owned restaurant! Great food and friendly service!
A great American breakfast experience. Great servers who are friendly, personable, efficient. You WANT to be around them. The food is more than you can eat and is pretty good.
excelente servicio muy amables y muy rica la comida
I liked this restaurant. Though it really needs help with refurbishing the furniture (there were torn chairs and booths as soon as you walked in), I liked the place. The service was excellent, staff was friendly and welcoming. I had plenty of choices being vegan. I choose a bowl of grits. It is something I really enjoy and rarely find on the west coast. The rest of my group had full meals. And, the meals were huge. Enough to share. Rather than order two meals, the waiter suggested a meal that was easy to share for what the two people in my party wanted. Thus, saving them money. It was nice of him to do that. I would definitely go back. Yes, the decor needs help, but the staff, and the food, don't. Go and enjoy.
Got breakfast here. Food was very yummy. Definitely will be coming back to try out more dishes.
