Our dreams of a beautiful, outdoor, sunny, Southern California wedding were shattered when the world was hit with the Coronavirus Pandemic last year. We, along with millions of other people, were personally affected by the deadly virus. In the beginning, we did not know just how much we would be affected. We chose Colony House as our venue for our wedding. We met with the staff at The Colony House and they assured us everything would be fine and they would keep up with the coronavirus rules and regulations regarding gatherings. We paid our 20% deposit of $5,167 on June 15, 2020 to secure our date of June 19, 2021. We waited and watched as mandates and regulations constantly changed. We kept in communication with the manager at The Colony House consistently. We finally decided to cancel our wedding on November 30, 2020. I had just gotten over contracting coronavirus on November 10th and once my two week quarantine was up and my health started to get better, I decided a wedding and possibly having the virus resurface and spread at my wedding was not worth anyone else’s health. Norman Bennett (owner) and Elise Luna (Sales Manager) accepted my cancellation, but refused to refund my money, citing they had already begun to pay vendors for my event even though it was still eight months away. Stormin’ Norman then began to get unprofessional and disrespectful with his correspondence to my fiancé and me. Norman told us that my contracting coronavirus, not knowing if we would make it out healthy, and being afraid of the virus spreading at my wedding was a “personal problem” and that he would not refund my money because they were able to accommodate my wedding, just on a smaller scale. At the time, no more than ten people were allowed to be gathered at any given time and my guestlist was nearly two hundred people. Do not book your event at Colony House. The staff there are unprofessional, rude, and below par. It was very disturbing and offensive to have Norman tell me it was a “personal problem” of mine if the coronavirus spread at my wedding or if my fiancé was left without a bride. It was dishonest of Colony House to tell me they started using our deposit for several programs for my wedding, eight months out, during a pandemic, and with no receipts to prove it.I would not recommend Colony House to have your event. You can see how they began to communicate with me once I asked for my money back.
