Been here multiple times… ordered the same things I usually like to get here. Idk what happened this time around but I tip them like I always do and this is how my burger came out today… food took over 20 min and my order also came out 10 min after the guy who ordered behind me. Kinda don’t trust whoever made it. They put salad in my hamburger instead of the traditional lettuce onions and tomatoes which ended up falling out as my burger fell apart. As much as I hate wasting food I ended up tossing most of it out. Their fountain soda was also flat. As for their 4 star ratings there’s better options nearby for what they charge here. Probably not coming back again. Thanks but no thanks
This is a hidden gem in Alameda. The restaurant looks very no frills, you order at the counter and pick up your food kinda place. I ordered the combination platter, which includes both chicken and lamb over rice, with pita and a side of salad. The chicken seemed to be grilled and was slightly over cooked but still had good flavors. The lamb was very flavor and doesn’t taste gamey. What surprised me the most honestly was the rice. I was expecting just basic steamed basmati but they actually seasoned their rice very well. I typically put a lot of tzatziki sauce on these platters but I did not need to add anything to the platter here. It was all well seasoned that add the tzatziki sauce felt like taking away from some of it. Plus, it helps with my “healthier eating” too lol.Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re craving some chicken and lamb platter.
Recent visit of mine was very good. I had order burger meal and 10 pieces of bbq chicken wings(spicy). Meal was sufficient for two person, it comes with their special fries. Food was fresh, they adjust the spice level as per request, good service. They have new item on menu as pita pizza which just $8, something to try on my next visit.
When you walk in it smells great! On the picture menu everything looks delicious. We just had a burger but would definitely come back to try more.
Gyro and chicken are good. The green sauce is delicious--order extra.
I ordered falafel plate , the pita bread is not good quality , it feels like chewing rubber after few minutes, they plate comes with just 3 pieces of falafel compare to other places with 4 pieces , The hammus was watery and didn't taste good at all and lastly salad which was soggy , the only highlight was generous amount of cheese used as topping on salad .. I guess to make it eatable.. I been to other similar place in the neigborhood and really enjoyed the food.. "This place is clearly overrated " People you should try food around to know what you guys missing.
I ordered the Lamb Bowl. The overall dish was tasty. However there was little Lamb, a rice paddy of rice, and veggies.Price point almost $14.00 with tax.Not worth it. Where’s the Lamb?
Cuts corners only. Stopped there after a visit to antique market and immediately saw that the gyro is the frozen heat and serve kind. Not made in restaurant. This is the same gyro from the same heat and serve distributor. I ordered a falafel wrap with a posted price of $8. Cashier wanted $11 as they raised prices but didn't change sign yet. Bait and switch? Nevertheless I was hungry. The wrap only had 2 sluced falafel balls and a mountain of lettuce with cucumbers, mediocre hummus without its essential ingredient, tahini.
Good quick bite in Alameda if you are craving Mediterranean. Restaurant is advertised as Afghani but the food is not Afghani. Also falafel were a bit hard to bite into
Great lamb wraps and salad. Very satisfying food. I’ll be back again for sure. Khalil is an awesome owner and manager.
