If you are ever in Alameda. This is a must go. Bring a designated driver because you are going to leave here fat and happy, that is, unless you are a vegan needing attention every five minutes.The bartender was amazing, food was amazing, owner still works here and is friendly and not jaded and amazing. The restaurant actually has a bus staff that keeps the tables appropriately cleared.What we ordered:Starting with our drinks: Plack Ties. Appetizers: the wings, dry rub, tasty, the count was only five so order a couple of plates. The chowder and other seafood dishes are California 5, but a New England 3 (sorry for the east Coast snobby statement)...but truly some of the best seafood I have had here in California. It truly, is equivalent to the high quality that you can get out of the restaurants in Bodega Bay.. Seafood medley...another excellent dish!Experience:So this was the right balance of: great food, great drinks, laughter shared with great friends created an all around great experience at this wonderful restaurant.For me, this is what great dining is about.Properly prepared food, a level of service and atmosphere that does not distract in any way from your ability to share the moment with great friends. 1400 delivers that standard!So while I can't remember any of our main courses, I do remember that it was a great time, hot and tasty food, and more importantly we all had fun and it is now a place we will go every time that we are in town.What we spent:$300 for food and drinks which for 5 people in the bay area was extremely affordable and worth every penny.Quick Tip:This is not a restaurant designed to get you in, fed and then kick you out for the next paying customer.This place provided the perfect atmosphere to bring your close friends, people that you actually like. so enjoy the atmosphere, share some good conversation and make fun memories.The wait staff was slow, but not unattentive, they stay out of your way to give you enough time to relax and enjoy your friends, enjoy the experience, and not feel like they're waiting for you to get off their table. Which I really appreciate.So, order all your apps/meals together at one time, bring your best chatty friends and sit back and enjoy the experience... This is not the place to bring a high maintenance friend who needs constant attention, besides do you really enjoy that person?It's easy to navigate this.... Simply think about what you want and need, then order together. Order your drinks together, order your apps together, get another round of drinks....together, order your meal together.... I think you get the picture. Then sit back, enjoy the great food your wonderful friends share stories laughter and enjoy the day!

Good food great atmosphere friendly people. As a person new to the Bay area, I find the prices high, but it seems in line as other establishments are in the same price ranbe.
1400 bar and grill is a great place to come for drinks and food. The Mai Tais are amazing, very good if your into them. I ordered the spam fries and those were a nice treat if you have as much class I do ?. We also ordered the steamers appetizer, and that was the treat of the whole experience. If you love all seafood I highly recommend you trying it. The shrimp was amazing, the clams and cod are cooked to perfection! We met the owner Yani, and he is a class act, very nice and big on the history of this location, and Greek history as well lol. Please come in and you will not regret it.
Wanted to take our Family Hosts out for a nice dinner while visiting Alameda. They chose the 1400 Bar & Grill for our Epic dinner. Eclectic sports decor, ambience and great Service made the location very enjoyable. The tasty Spam Fries ? appetizer really reminded me of the great interest in Spam when visiting and dining in Hawaii. The Clam Chowder and NY Steak were done well; others chose the Fish and Chips meal which was very satisfying. Would recommend this location to any Canadians visiting the City.
The waiter came to take our order but had not given us menus. Once they came it took a very long time for him to return to take our order - we had to ask the bartender to find him. The fresh brewed iced tea in a very large bottle was the highlight of the lunch. After our food was delivered, we did not see the waiter again and had to get out of our seats to get his attention 3 different times - each time he was on his phone and not attentive to his tables. We ordered a bowl of chowder that was delicious, the side salad was crisp and fresh and the blackened salmon sandwich was very tasty. The food was good enough but a bit pricey for lunch and the service was very, very bad. Definitely not a place for a quick lunch!
I am so sad to write a bad review for a local spot that has so much potential. We were seated on the patio at a great table and then approached by a different staff member who rudely accused us of taking a table from a large party (we had no idea because we had been seated there by a staff member). We were happy to move and asked if we would sit near the fire pit because it was cold, we were told that those seats weren't available unless it was we had more people in our group. We sat in a corner table far away from a heater and ordered the spam fries and some beers. The fries came out cold, like sitting out for an hour or more cold. We NEVER send food back but thought maybe it was a honest mistake. The server was nice at first but when we decided not to order more food she was a completely different person and threw the check at us.
Good homemade cooked burgers with great fries!!! Endless refills on sodas and a great place to watch the games!!! The service providers were five star workers too! Enjoyed talking with them!! Will definitely return again!! Thank you for your honest establishment!!
