Everything was made fresh and was delicious. I had the grilled shrimp skewers, grilled asparagus and zucchini. The shrimp was seasoned just right. The asparagus and zucchini was cooked perfectly. My husband had the fried shrimp, baked potato and side salad. Both meals came with hush puppies! We could have eaten everything on our plates, but decided to get pie. The Possum Pie (chocolate pie) was the best chocolate pie we ever had. The butterfinger pie was delicious and definitely worth getting. Don’t pass through Russellville without stopping here!
My wife and I had a great country cooking lunch here. She had the country fried steak and I had fried chicken livers. Both were clearly made from scratch on site. Both were excellent. Sides of pinto beans, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese and broccoli. All fresh and well seasoned without being at all greasy. Had I not been stuffed the chocolate pie looked very tempting. All in a quaint well preserved diner. Try it out if you’re passing through.

My wife and I stopped here for dinner while traveling through the area. We decided to give this place a try, based on previous TA reviews. All the positive reviews were spot on -- we were seated immediately and our server came right away to our table, taking our drink selections and giving us menus. We made our selections and found all the food to be terrific. It was hot, fresh-tasting, and plentiful. I had their Hamburger Steak and a cup of their Potato Soup, while my wife enjoyed their Grilled Pork Chop. it's a great spot, and seems to be an eatery that many locals enjoy, as we did. Highly recommend!!
I came in with a group of 20 teenagers going to a softball tournament. The staff was polite and we enjoyed our experience! Great food and atmosphere.
My husband had the chicken fried steak, he said it was the best he ever had. The broccoli salad I had was so good. Pie was great, but so rich!!! Great, fast service! Spoke with the manager briefly, seems very personable. If ever back this way, we know where we are stopping!
Good old school restaurant with great service. My kids took me out for my birthday we had the country fried pork chop with a baked potato. We also had the grilled ham and cheese with fries and the catfish dinner. Great place and great service.

I had the caribean chicken salad with raspberry dressing it was huge and delicious. I sat at the bar and had a wonderful conversation with an older gentleman while I had lunch. The service was great and the place was packed.
We've been to Old South a number of times over about 10 years. It's an old-line family restaurant. This visit, I had Chicken Fried Steak that was pretty decent, and Raegan had fried pork chops that were excellent.Service was fast and friendly even though the place was pretty full.Places like Old South are very comforting to me as they are a reminder of the diners my family ate in while on weekend trips.
