So, the tamales were huge, tasty, and a buck eighty each. They would get 5 stars but I’m not a fan of green Chile chick tamales. I ordered two red Chile pork. I received 1 red pork, 1 green chicken. If I received what I ordered it would be 5 stars. Easy as that.
Took 45 mins to receive half a kilogram of tortillas and 2 lbs of Mexican bbq. I ordered 1 kilogram of tortillas not half.
The first two times I stopped by it was past 4:00 and wasn’t able to try their tacos. However, I remained determined and finally managed to arrive in plenty of time to do my taco test. Because I don’t speak Spanish, they spoke very limited English, it took them three attempts to cross the communication gap and finally got my heart’s desire. Apparently, the key word for hard shell taco is crunchy, reminder to self! After the rocky start, my long wait paid off, I finally found the perfect pork taco I had been searching for in NWA after nineteen years. Being an ex-Californian I had almost given up hope, only to be wonderfully surprised that it surpassed those on the west coast.
Best tamales in Arkansas!!!! I recommend the pork tamales. We had the chicken & pork but the pork were my favorite. The key to these big fat tamales was definitely the masa they use. I noticed they sell the masa in huge bags if you want to make some treats of your own. When you are checking out you will notice a heat lamp on the best carnitas in town. They sell it by the pound and I am so so so happy I choose to grab a 1/2 pound on my way out. This Mexican Shredded Pork aka Carnitas was some of the best I have ever had. It literally melts in your mouth ? If you want to be the star of any get together grab a couple pounds of warm carnitas and some hot corn tortillas (they keep a cooler behind the cash register). Take that to your next dinner party and everyone will be ranting and raving!I noticed some white paper bags on the counter and asked if I could have a peek. I am so glad I did!!! It was deep fried chicharrones that were made that day, yum! Some bites were hard and some bites melted in your mouth. I would love to experience these hot out of the oil, I bet they are to die for.The reason I choose this bakery is because they make not only corn tortillas but also flour tortillas daily. I’m my family we have a tradition of simply putting on some room temp butter on a freshly made corn tortilla and that is heaven to the Allen Family. (We grew up on the border of Mexico ?? and that is how we did it.)We also tried some of the pastries made in house and they were all delicious. I already can’t wait to go back and explore some more. I highly recommend this place and feel anything they do will be excellent.PS they barely speak English, so be patient, but in my opinion that is how you know it is authentic and good ;) 5 stars ⭐️ all the way!
First time to visit La Popular, and we were very impressed. My wife thought her carnitas tacos were the best she ever had. I ordered pork tamales and chicken tamales. Other than the masa (dough) being too thick on my chicken tamales, they were delicious. They were very busy, and if you don't speak Spanish you might have a hard time communicating.
Best tortillas ever!! Literally everything on the menu is fantastic. Be prepared to stand in line, that's the cost of good Mexican food ??
Best tortillas, chips, tamales, and salsas I've ever had. Can't wait to eventually try everything!
Very clean bakery and can even order breakfast and lunch. Will definitely eat here again!
This is the spot for the best tamales I have ever eaten! These are big and cheap! The ratio of filling to masa was amazing! And speaking of masa, it is so flavorful that you could eat it by itself. Don't forget the baked goods! I am not sure what the pastry was called that I tried but it was so good! I will never get tamales again without getting a pastry for dessert. This place is AWESOME!
Fantastic food, excellent costumer service, price is just right, espectacular 3 leches cakes, awesome fresh tortillas, fresh meats for preparing meals. Great menudo. Tasty Tacos, Los burritos de carne asada to die for, El Caldo de Res, Rice&Beans Delicious, Las Carnitas Wow! Great salsas Roja/Verde ***Mostly why highly recommended, the owners are willing to help the most needed and serve others expecting nothing in return. That should be acknowledged and plus their work crew are hard working caring individuals whom also enjoy serving others. Plus, they’re all great cooks!
