It’s hard to decide what the best part of Phil’s is: great service from Linda and Melody who will make your day and make you laugh, giant-sized portions that can feed the whole table, or the most amazing, flavorful down-home Southern cooking you’ve ever had in your life! But when you combine those three things, you get a meal experience that is not to be missed! Your stomach and your pocketbook will thank you.
This was the best place we ate during our trip to Hot Springs! The place was hopin! They were packed and we ended up sitting at the bar cause they had no other room to fit us! But this just made the experience better! All the wait staff were so awesome as we watched them shuffling around they still stopped and talked to us no matter how busy they all were. Talk about team work! The food was absolutely amazing! And there was so much food there was no way we could finish it all! To my surprise they had biscuits with chocolate gravy! I hadn't had it since I was a kid at my grandma's at Christmas! Thanks Phil's! Great experience!
I absolutely loved my visit to Phil's! As I walked through the door, I was transported back in in time to my grandma's dining room cerca 1950. The staff were hometown friendly and the food was southern home cooking at it's best. Highly recommend. Will be back for more soon!
In the day’s of you don’t ever get your money’s worth, YOU WILL BE DELIGHTED WITH PHIL’S… YOU GET A HUGE HELPING OF DELICIOUS, HOMEMADE FOOD! My husband and I came to Phil’s after we had a HVAC person out to see about our RV AC. It was about 1:45, we saw Phil’s and decided to go. Phil’s is across from the racetrack and What A GEM! We sat down, Miss Margaret came up, asked us what we’d like to drink and being the Southerners we are, we decided on tea! Miss Margaret brought us our tea in quart wide mouthed Mason jars (I love that little touch) and it was so good… no instant tea here! We decided to go with cheeseburgers and crispy fries. OMGOODNESS, when Miss Margaret came out with the burgers and fries, the air filled with delicious aromas! We were drooling, lol! The Burgers were HUGE (my husband said close to a pound each) and Handmade Patties, seasoned perfectly! The Fries Were Crisp and fried in Fresh Oil, No Other Taste But Goodness! The attention to serving delicious food was AMAZING! I know you are thinking, how can a simple burger and fries be that good? Well, don’t take our word for it, let your stomach tell you! The meal was Wonderful and we Both Cleaned Our Plates! We were stuffed and truly didn’t need to eat again until the next day! Miss Margaret told us Breakfast Was Delicious Too! Next trip, we will be dining at Phil’s again and we look forward to sharing This Special Little Gem With Our Friends and Family!
We have been to Oaklawn many times, but this was our first visit to Phil's. We had breakfast, and everything was very good. Two couples, and we tried a variety of items. the sausage and eggs were good. the biscuits and gravy very good, but the hotcakes, OH MY! they were awesome! Love family owned places like this.
If you decide to only eat at one restaurant while visiting Hot Springs let it be this one! We stopped by here and from the outside I'll admit it doesn't look too promising as it wasn't too busy but wow! The food was the best breakfast I've had in the south. We are from Texas and decided to travel to Hot springs and our whole family loved this place. The portions are huge, prices are low, the staff are so friendly. They put whip cream on almost everything which I'll be doing from now on because it was so good. 10/10!!
Let's start with the atmosphere, it has an old farmhouse vibe.I had the double, and my wife had french toast. The pancakes in the picture you can tell are huge, and they are the best pancakes I've ever had. I had the sample the biscuits and gravy also and the biscuits were homemade and the gravy was awesome. I would give this six stars if I could.
It's been a couple of years, but it's still just as wonderful as it was in 2019.****************(Wonderful service and fantastic food. Just walking in and looking around is great. I encourage anyone coming to Hot Springs to check this place out! You will be so glad that you did! ❤ ? ? ?
Our family ate at Phil’s yesterday morning and it was a terrible experience. My daughter wrote a review and the owner gave a very nice response. Wanted to make sure that it was noted that our waitress was wonderful. She was not responsible for serving horrible food handed to her by a terrible cook. She was so apologetic and brought apparently a boss lady to our table to talk about our dissatisfaction with the quality of the food. This lady said she would talk to someone to see what could be done. We ended up still paying $24.00 for four plates of food that were left setting on the table. Said they took off one meal and a ten percent discount. We ate there on a recent visit in October and it was very good. Couldn’t wait to take our family there for a good breakfast. Didn’t happen! Seemed as if quantity completely out ranked quality. One pancake was so burnt hard you could knock on it but yet white and undercooked on the other side. The bacon was ice cold. I could go on. Our sweet waitress was about to cry and so upset. We tipped her really good and hoped it made her day a little better. Maybe it was just a bad morning for the cook as so many reviews say how great Phil’s is. We just had to go elsewhere to get our breakfast!
Phil's was wonderful! The staff was so friendly, and the food was very tasty! I loved the "home" feel vibe of the place, and even though they were totally swamped, they got us in quickly and didn't let the crowd "get to them" everyone was cheerful and our waitress was the sweetest little lady ever! Glad we were able to make it for breakfast!
