This is one of those places that you visit as much for the history as for the food! So many modern places try to capture that mid-century vibe with their décor, but this place is 100% authentic! Been there forever! And best of all, the founder's family still runs it! We each hard BBQ plates, one chopped pork, one chopped brisket, not sauced. We thought the meat just a little bit dry, but with good flavor. One really neat thing I enjoyed was that you can get a hot link (smoked sausage) as one of your sides! As for the other sides we tried, the potato salad was a very conventional mustard style, perfectly enjoyable and tasty. The coleslaw in contrast was rather different from most, with some sort of seasoning I didn't recognize. I liked it okay, the wife was not fond of it. The folks working there were very friendly and attentive, checking back a couple times and answering all questions clearly. I think anyone who enjoys BBQ and American cultural history should definitely stop in when in town!

I took my family to MCclards - after growing up eating there and bragging about it. Not what it used to be… ribs were tough and dry, brisket was worse than grade school cafeteria meat, fry’s were soggy. Beans and cole slaw was good. I’ll never go back, too bad

Awesome food you will NEVER leave still hungry great food friendly staff took me 3 days to eats these loaded fries WONDERFUL the pecan pie was like my mammaws

Excellent food and excellent service. Waiter was very nice. Recommend to anyone who likes bbq

Pork ribs were tender, tasty and meaty. Three of us ordered them sauce on side. Fries very good. Did not like coleslaw. Chocolate malts were yummy but served in paper cups.Turkey plate was enjoyed too. Service was fine. Overall rating 4.6

Great dinner experience! And an amazing server!

I’m from Texas and nothing can beat Texas BBQ !! To each it’s own though so don’t come at me. I wanted try it since I was in Hot Springs and McClard’s has great history behind it and a favorite amongst locals and visitors . Staff was really friendly and attentive but food was ok . The sliced beef tasted like pot roast with BBQ sauce poured on top , the beans was different tasted more like chili beans and I wasn’t a big fan of that . The ribs were ok very tough and chewy , sausage was good . I did enjoy the potato salad and the side of fries with the dry seasoning sprinkled on top it was so good . I even purchased the dry seasoning to take home which was the best part . The BBQ sauce was ok wasn’t my thing now the loaded fries I think was the best dish in my opinion but I think if the cheese was melted on top it would of been heaven.

Great food and wonderful service. Get a tamale!

Coming from a Texan… I really like BBQ, but… this place is famous for its sauce, but I wasn’t impressed. The sauce is very acidic and too tomato-y. I like a thicker, bolder flavor.

The info under the Brisket Burger said “just trust us.” I shouldn’t have. It was a good tasting patty, but about 1/4 to 1/3 of a lb with American cheese. If I’d know that, I would've chosen a different entree. I was hoping for more of a gourmet burger and definitely didn’t expect cheap cheese. Fries (real potatoes) and an extra Mac n’ Cheese side were good. I would try it again for a different meal, but wouldn’t go out of my way just to return.
