Village Inn has been a favorite for years but that may soon change. The food is generally good, we both had the fried fish with seasoned fries. But the star attraction are the pies. We both like the cream pies, whereas I prefer not the two crust pies. The crust were always rather doughy and the fruit filling sparse. This time, my beautiful bride had the Strawberry rhubarb two crust. The rather well done crust proved to be almost impervious to the table service ware. I joked that it must be the VI answer to school shootings, producing a bullet-proof pie crust. I also noted that the filling was rather off-color ( since when are rhubarb or strawberries brown?) My chocolate creme was also well off color, the whipped cream like a custard yellow and the shaved chocolate oxidized like it had been in the cooler for a week or two.We also took a piece home for later. Those proved to be disappointing too. My coconut creme was bland and the crust of the bullet-proof variety, her's "sickenly sweet" with an armored crust.I don't know if this is temporary situation but the Star of the VI visit is far from the standard we've come to expect. That's too bad.
The Ultimate breakfast was perfect. A nice mix of choices. Staff was very friendly. Couldn't pass up on pie for dessert. An overall good experience.
Best service in town. Good food as well. I’ve been here 4 years how come no ever told me about this place! Also the pie, to die for ♥️?
Everyone has hard days, let's face it. This was a difficult afternoon and one could tell, right from the get go even before ordering the food itself, the drinks arrived and I asked for a cup of ice.It never came. When ordering the food we asked specifically for bacon (we got fries) and no green peppers - the dish was loaded with them. On top of that the dish was devoid of cheese, the pancakes were not up to svratch and the coffee tasted burnt. I've had great experience with this location before, and better service, I'm of the mind that this was a one off incident likely to nit happen quite as much as one might think. We left hungry and disappointed.
We got there 5-10 minutes after our online order said it would be ready, and the food was not ready. We were told it would be in a few minutes, so, we went to get something and came back in about 10 minutes. We got our food, and when we got back home, we were missing items we ordered. We got the syrup for item, but no butter. It felt like they rushed putting it together and did not pay attention to what was going into the bags. We usually don't have this kind of experience here, but, today, it was pretty bad.
4 for breakfast on a Monday morning about 9AM. Husband had a Denver Omelet, Son had a Skillet meal, grand daughter had chicken strips and fries off the kids menu, and I had Eggs Benedict. Mine was very good-I was pleasantly surprised. It was served with Hash Browns, and I added some pancakes. The service was OK. Like a lot of places they appeared to be short handed. We got our food pretty quick but if you wanted anything else, prepare to wait. everyone cleaned their plates, so I assume the food was worth eating! I would eat here again as it is a good value and my food was very good. The eggs were perfectly poached and my food was warm when it was served up!
Great place for a family. Pie is excellent. No vegan or vegetarian items but they made my turkey club without any meat.
This review has nothing to do with the staff, they were absolutely lovely. We just didn’t love the food. The coffee was bad, the OJ was the cheap kind and tasted sort of like Sunny Delight. The food was so-so, definitely not worth the $40 we spent. For a similar price you can get really good food at another breakfast spot like First Watch.I hate to write a not so great review, but I have to be honest.
I went with my grandparents because they wanted to go here. It took 15 minutes to get sat. Once sat it took an hour to get our food. There were less than 15 customers beside us and it took that long. The order wasn't correct. We sat most of the meal with no drinks because the waitress forgot to fill them despite being asked multiple times. We waited 10 minutes for butter. We had an incident and asked for a manager she never bothered to show up. The food was cold and over cooked. It took over 10 minutes to pay the bill because we had to wait for someone to show up to cash us out. Over all this is the worst experience ever. I will never go back. It was such a waste of time and money. Had it not been for the fact that my grandparents had already had a stressful day I would have walked out. When my father in law asked why the food was taking so long the waitress said oh its because its a big order and I am trying to get it together. I would not recommend this place at all.
Great experience! Great place for families. My kid & I went there & drawing activities for him, & 4 free crayons. Just wish I had my kid during their free pie Wednesdays, instead if his mom
