Loved our waiter ♡ he was kind and attentive, even though it was very busy. We loved the band and it was nice to get out with friends again. Watching people dancing and having a good time always makes you feel better. The patio is dog friendly and everyone loves the dogs ❤️ it was 101 degrees still at 10pm. I don't know what happened to the misters on the patio but they were only on for a short while? If they were working , it would have been a better experience. All in all we had a HOT TIME ❤️
Great service and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in often to ensure we were doing well. Well definitely be back!
We had eaten here a few months ago and enjoyed the food. We decided to come back recently for lunch. The hostess brought us to a table and handed us menus. We saw 4 wait staff walking around and going to different tables. We sat there for 15 minutes and no one came by to offer drinks or talk to us at all. We did not want to stay at a restaurant with such poor service so we got up and left and opted to eat lunch at a different establishment. I hope management will pay more attention to organizing wait staff as their food is good but we don’t want to waste our limited time waiting for someone to come to our table.
We had a very nice pub-style dinner here. We went in a bit early to catch happy hour and had a glass of wine and the pretzels and pub chips. Both (pictured) were really tasty. I had fish and chips and she had caesar salad with grilled chicken. Neither of us finished our entre, good sized servings!3 filets of fish, lots of fries. Tarter sauce was on point and the salad was well presented and fresh.Throughout service was attentive and efficient, without pressuring us to leave, as we were spending a bit of time just relaxing and chatting. All in all, a great pub-style experience, reasonable prices, great food. Recommend!
We took my mother to eat at the union yesterday and were extremely dissatisfied with the service. Two of us ordered a New York steak and expected it to be of great quality given the price. We both ordered medium rare steaks, which came out well done. It was not only well done, but extremely difficult to cut through. We informed the server, and she returned them. Meanwhile, while we waited for the steak, everyone was nearly finished when it was finally brought out. When I cut into my steak, it was tough again, and this time the center was gray rather than pink and warm. The server came out again to ask if the steak was okay and my brother respectively told her that the steak looked off in color. She apologized and said that she would go get the manager. The manager came out and asked what the problem was and my brother respectively told him that the steak looked gray in color and the manager asked, "Is it not edible?" I was shocked to have heard this, given the Union and what they stand for as they claim, "Dedicated to uncompromising quality." Does the Union pride itself in serving "edible food?" My brother proceeded to ask the manager if he would eat the steak and the manager said it did look odd in color and offered us a new steak and we politely rejected given how hungry we were and had waited a long time already. We told the manager that we would just eat the sides. After we had finished they brought the check over to us and the server said that the manager took 50% off the two plates we had ordered with the NY steaks. We didn't even eat the steak and they took 50% off our plates because we ate the sides. I didn't realize it cost 17 dollars for mashed potatoes and broccolini. The only reason we ordered that dish to begin with was for the steak and yet we didn't have a single bite of it. After we paid for the meal, my brother went to speak with the manager, Jared, and returned very upset because of how the manager treated him and was extremely demeaning. This was unacceptable, and I will never return, and I will inform everyone about how poor the service was. Thank you for your outstanding service, Jared.
DO NOT go here for quality food. Two of us ordered steaks medium rare and they came out well to well done. We asked for them to be remade and waited a bit. Everyone had finished their dishes by the time our steaks were remade. After cutting into them we saw that the cook and color of the meat was off. The manager was sent. After explaining to Jared that the meat was unsatisfactory, he asked, "Is it not edible?" I responded that it was not fresh meat and that it was not worth the price. I then asked if he would eat it, he responded, "No, the meat does look a little gray and it does not look warm pink." He asked if we wanted it remade and I said no, I didn't want to wait for another steak. We did keep the potatoes and broccolini because we were hungry. At the end of the meal he took off 50% on the two steaks. This was upsetting as it was still $17 for potatoes and broccolini!!! After we paid I went and spoke with Jared, he said that he was, "trying to help me out by giving me the discount." How is that helping me? I shared that the experience was not up to par and I would have taken the dishes off because the main reason I ordered it was for the steak, not the potatoes and broccolini. He then went on to assume I wanted the whole bill paid for and that next time and that he'll keep that in mind for the next time. Without hesitation he walked away abrutly, even though the conversation was not over. This kind of attitude is not what hospitality is about. It was never about the money, it was the way that I was treated. Jared took one look at me and because I was young made assumptions that I needed the help and then proceeded to call me "buddy". Jared, I needed service recovery for food that was not up to standards. Jared is a poor excuse for a manager and reflects horribly on the entire brand. SO, thank you Jared for keeping me in mind for the next time, but unfortunately we'll never return or be buddies!
Great selection with decent pricing
Terrible customer service! Three plus bad experiences with managers. Contacted owner, no response. I won’t return & am telling everyone about it!!!
The food is fantastic. This is where I take guests who come in from out of town because I know it will be an exceptional experience for them.
Went for a UofA basketball “watch party” with a big screen (very big) set up in the outside courtyard so both the Union House and Reforma patrons could all watch the game and get into the vibe. The food was good as always ( shrimp Po’ boy was fantastic but the coleslaw needed more dressing), the pulled pork sliders great, and the cauliflower was pretty spicy so beware! Our server (Hannah C) was really attentive which was hard and the place was packed for the game! Always a great time I also like that the ownership supports great local non-profits like More Than a Bed (for foster/adopted kids)! Love this place! VictorB
