Story time!!I was walking, in Downtown Tucson, on my way to experience another restaurant for dinner and seen this place. I was very excited to try and changed my plans. Being a Southerner living in Tucson, it's hard to get food that reminds you of home. The Delta is located right next to the TEP building downtown. There were some highs and lows with this visit. I'll explain in my review. When I walked in, the bright lights behind the bar and music set the atmosphere. I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately at the bar. Bartender was prompt with drink menus and suggestions. When I go to restaurant, I want what the place is known for. He gives me some suggestions and I proceed to order.I'll be honest, because I paid for this experience. The drinks were the best part of the night. They have an huge drink list. The drinks, Killer Parties Almost Killed Me and Mississippi Lane, were amazing. Killer Parties Almost Killed Me was poured in a Peacock shaped mug and sat on fire. The Mississippi Lane was smooth and made you want more. The food had numerous issues.. I sent my Tri-Tip back because it was it was well done and had a burnt taste. When the new Tri-Tip was served.. Just know I'll won't go back for that. The Roux, used for the gumbo, was not my favorite. For dessert, I had the Peanut Butter Twix Pie.. couldn't use my spoon to eat it. I was hard as a rock and after a few bites I just left it on the table. This place has potential. The bartender was awesome. The drinks were amazing.. The food... You go be the judge.. Could have just been an off night!
Stumbled across what turned out to be a really fun and delicious time. The menu surprises with southern food twisted with southern vibes. Definitely a place for experimenting and drinking late into the night.
Really cool place and a vibing new touch to downtown.Southern themed, everything in here is pretty good! The menu is short and delicious. The short rib is to die for. Try the bone marrow if your adventurous.Looking forward to the new menu coming up.
My honest review of Delta is that they will need to make a few adjustments as they go, but it was very enjoyable. The menu is a bit too kitschy for me. Both the selection as well as the actual menu (ditch the paper menus with all the foofy colors for a bit more upscale version IMO. Honestly, it's hard to read. And for the price point, I want a real menu. Not a toddler's place setting). The cocktails are very good, but I think they need to go up a notch to compete with the mixology scene that has emerged in Tucson over the past few years. But they're close. Three menu items we got had the same exact cheese sauce on them. However, that cheese sauce is AMAZING. As was the pork crown (pictured). The ribs in the crown could have been a bit more tender, but the flavor more than made up for that. IMO they need to balance the creativity of the menu with a few more standard cajun dishes. And also some more vegetarian options. All in all though really good. The service was excellent.
Atmosphere was awesome. Decor was nice. But not alot of food variety the fried mushrooms were delicious and so was the shrimp but did not care for the elote too sour....
Wow, that was so good!! Starting from my crazy drink that the bartender lit a pineapple slice on fire for the garnish to the pickleberry pie with goat cheese topping, I loved every single thing!!!Our waiter, Patrick, was super great. Knowledgeable and really personable.
Amazing drinks, out of this world smoked crown pork ribs, delicious mud pie, and dry iced and smoked oysters. Wonderfully, creative food and great atmosphere. You can't go wrong!
NOT my cup of tea. That being said, they get an A for ambiance, decor, service and originality.
Happy Hour was very nice. Great tapas menu and nice drinks. I will return.
Great new restaurant! Unique menu. I had the pig tail, tender and moist, the roasted bone marrow which was full of flavor, the beef tartare savory perfection and the pork belly skewers a spicy bacon delight. The restaurant had a great ambience and the staff very knowledgeable. Overall a great place to eat and enjoy a drink. They serve absinthe!!
