Great people. Great food and Chef. Loved the atmosphere on the patio. One of the best in Tucson
We enjoyed The Coronet. The atmosphere was great and the service was attentive. The Persian-inspired steelhead dish was outstanding. However, the pork loin dish could use more flavor and imagination.
We recently chose The Coronet for my mother's 80th birthday party. Sally Kane was fantastic and very prompt with communication in setting up our event for approx. 30 people. Sally carefully curated a stationed menu for our guests based on favorite flavors. The Coronet is a beautiful Territorial era property with two courtyard areas - perfect in the evening time in late April. Our crew of four (yes, 4 dedicated professionals for our small group!) was very attentive all night. Anna , Noah, and Breanna were true professionals and kept timing of courses, toast, and dessert running all night. Their balance of attentiveness was spot on. Keila is a master behind the bar. Everyone enjoyed her concoctions from signature cocktails to requests, served up in the perfect glassware. The food was delicious. Locally-sourced and sustainable, the menu is a creation of seasonal flavors that don't disappoint. My mother loves fried calamari and we found this to be a perfectly light and not oily at all. We had several entree choices but the pancetta-wrapped chicken and the flat iron steak with fresh chimichurri were awesome. Sally followed this up with birthday chocolate rum and cherry cupcakes with light Italian buttercream frosting.I see a lot of reviews on concern of portion sizing - our event was different so we had plenty to go around - and pricing. The portions are designed to share tapas style so you may want to order an extra plate. The flavors are all great so you can't go wrong there. It can cost a little more for fresh, small sourced ingredients and menus always depend on what is seasonably available - The Coronet chef does a great job of creating with what is available. It may not be your weekly hangout but for our very special occasion, we found the service, the food and the ambiance to be just what we hoped for. Thank you, Sally!
This place was apparently a venerable watering hole back in the day, but has since been transformed into a classy restaurant with a somewhat old-fashioned but appealing fine-dining vibe. For our visit we sat inside in the elegant dining room, but the patio was really lovely looking and quite popular even though it was about 100 degrees out! I only wish I had been hungrier (had had a late afternoon snack of Nico's tacos). I opted for bread, a salad, and the small plate of frog legs with butternut sauce, all of which were nicely done and tasty. My spouse enjoyed his eggplant dish, though he said he could make it himself (he generally prefers things that are completely new to him). For dessert all four of us shared the almond cake, which was very good. There was Nothing that absolutely wowed but everything was solid across the board. Service was friendly and attentive.
I, myself am a 190 almost 200 pound women. If your hungry, don't come here. I eat the amazing in like 5 minutes and then went to McDonald's right after. Amazing food and place to eat alone or with friends and family.
"Our crostini isn't for everyone's palate. I went ahead and grabbed the other bread for your table." Was the manager's response to their bread being burned. Our stay here was, to be brief, bad. My family went out to eat here for my mothers birthday. The hostess, Tiffany, sat us with a "Your server tonight will be Levi, he is amazing and will be treating you well tonight." That, it turns out, was a lie. Levi was way more interested in helping a table with two pretty girls. Our drinks were the only thing made well. Props to the bartender. They know what they are doing.their preserved lemon and olive with crostini is labeled as GF (gluten free) however...they do not offer GF bread? When inquired they said the entire thing is GF... except the bread. Cool, they put the bread on the side. however...they burned it. When I flagged down another server (because ours was paying attention to the two girls table), they brought out the manager. She fixed it by insulting our collective palate and bringing another type of bread...that wasn't burned.I also talked to her about the blue cheese wedge salad. The previous time I had been here I ordered something very similar and it was...a wedge. This was a normal salad. I was confused and they simply said that's what I ordered.our entrees came out in a timely fashion, if not very poor states. the main course was steak, frog legs, salads, trout, and chicken. A large order. everything was okay except the fish. over cooked and dry, and the rice was so overdone and dry it was completely inedible. Our server was still not helping us.After flagging down another server they apologized and got the manager. Our server came back during that time and we talked to him about the poor tasting food...and he took it away, said "I hope you enjoy the rest of your meal" and walked off! He didn't offer anything in replacement.Manager comes back, talks to us for a second and asks if they can make us something else. She then gets our the check (with three items taken off) and leaves. we waited a 5ish minutes. decided to pay cash and then leave.3 of the 4 people the next day had upset stomachs.$240 with a tip...0/5, will never give them business again. Guess our palates aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate their food?
We enjoyed a warm evening on the patio with live jazz spilling out from inside the restaurant, delicious sangria and negronis, attentive kind professional wait staff, it was perfection. We shared many dishes, they are small for what Americans are used to, but it was just the right amount of food. Appreciated so much their focus on ethically sourced proteins, not of abundance. Would highly recommend to anyone
Absolutely fantastic! 1000% recommend.
Great experience all around.Highlights:well-trained attentive staff, and plenty of themPatio dining with live music setting the background moodNice plates shared by two with an abundance of flavors and just enough to not over stuff but just feeling fineManager perusing the crowd to get the vibe and ensure positive experienceA winner overall. Nice job to the staff at The Coronet. We Will be back!
This place is magical! Inside is a cozy blast back to the 20s with vintage silverware, antique lamps and a bar top that has to be a hundred years old. Then step up into a quaint rooftop garden with citrus trees and little tables and chairs tucked in all around the garden. The service was professional, kind, funny and fast. And then there's the food! Absolutely stunning. I kept it simple with just the warm bread and sweet butter, a curried carrot soup and a salad of microgreens, edemame, and roasted squash/radishes. They were fresh and the flavors perfectly balanced. I wish i could have ordered more but was so satisfied that I left it there. I would come back here every night if I could. Thank you for the beautiful evening!
