We went there because I heard long time ago that they had tacos al pastor. We went and discovered that they have carne adobada but not al pastor. One of the owners saw us discussing about staying or leaving because they didn't have al pastor so she offered us a sample of carne adobada and explain the difference with al pastor. I thought that was very thoughtful of her and we decided to stay. I ordered one taco de carne asada and one taco de carne adobada. I liked them. I also liked the salsas. They have one tatemada really flavorful. And they have one that is very, very hot. Even my friends that eat more chile than me said it. But it's really good. I'll eat it again:)
Price, quality and custom...those are the 3 words that come to mind for El Cheke. I ordered multiple items, of course I ate the too fast for pictures l, but everything was amazing. The best part, by far, is the convenient way to customize your orders...simply order what you want and take your freshly made food to the toppings bar and load up. Plenty of options! If im ever back in Arizona, I'm finding Taqueria El Cheke!
Way overpriced at $12 for a carne asada burrito. It was small and only had cabbage and mediocre tasting meat in it.
A special shout-out to the adobado! The torta was great, with toasted bread. And the tacos were well made.Yummy salsas as well (from the salsa bar).
We have been here a few times and each time we have encountered something unpleasant like rudeness when taking an order or just thinking they’re overpriced. We enjoyed the food, so it had never been enough to get us to stop going until our trip there last night that had us in the bathroom vomiting at 3am. I understand it’s heavy food but it shouldn’t make us sick. Safe to say we probably won’t be coming back.
Hours are inconsistentEmployees kinda rudeI understand inflation but godamn $$$
Over priced for sure. $8 for this small chicken quesadilla. $3 for a small taco. The food tasted okay. The guy that took my order definitely had some attitude. I will never come back. I wouldn’t even give my dog food from here.
First time there. Food and service was excellent. Looking for local/home grown flavor and it definitely has it! Would highly recommend and look forward to trying the entire menu.
Update: Order the Taco Macho. You will not regret it.Outstanding Carne Asada - excellent flavor and texture. Don't be silly and order Filiberto's. Come here instead.I would give six stars out of five - if it were possible.
Beware the hidden charge for a side of refried beans! I was charged $15 for two sides! The employee said the beans are indeed $5 for a small scoop, maybe a half cup. Seriously?! Ok then, I can’t afford these golden beans and won’t return. The carne asada tacos are okay but have a lot of gristle.I recommend Angela’s on Prince/Stone .. carne asada is much better and they don’t overcharge for beans.
