I never would have guessed this place was vegan. Their substance burger is so tasty, and comes loaded with pickles, onion, lettuce and tomato. Husband’s favorite is the spicy frickin things. The thick cut fries are plenty to split between us. Ordering is wicked easy. By the time we’ve ordered beers from Moto, our order is ready. Whenever we’re at Moto, we enjoy Substance Diner! 12 out of 10 stars!!
Amazing food. Terrible service. We were so excited to visit the Substance Diner. As vegans visiting Tucson all the way from Canada, it is always exciting to find a vegan spot in a new-to-you town, and the food at Substance Diner came highly recommended. We patiently waited an hour for our “food is ready” text, which admittedly seemed like a very long time, even though their first FAQ on their website is a note about their food taking time to prepare. After 45-minutes of waiting for our food, I hesitantly went out to check on it, thinking maybe my order didn’t go through (Canadian phone number + credit card, maybe there was an issue?) I didn’t want to be pushy, but I thought I should ask. I was met with immediate rudeness and a quick “we’ll text you when it’s ready.” I didn’t have the chance to give my name or truly check in, because the person working seemed annoyed that I was even standing there in the first place. We finally got our food, which was very good, but maybe not wait for an hour and be treated rudely good? They had forgotten one of the dips we ordered (which you’re charged extra for), so I nervously went back out to retrieve it, knowing I would not be greeted with a smile. At the end of our meal, being newbies to this whole process, we returned to the truck (from inside the brewery) with our tray and garbage thinking we needed to dispose of our food packaging and return the tray to the truck. But, as I approached the food truck with my tray and said “thank you for our meal” awaiting some instruction on where to put the garbage and tray, I was met again with supreme rudeness: “can you maybe not leave your trash here” to which I asked where to toss it and place their tray I used. Again, very rudely was told “I don’t know, maybe inside?” Overall, the food was good, the wait time was long, but the real disappointment was the way we were treated.
I've been in Tucson over a year and this has been the best food I've had, vegan or not. The food was prepared fresh and on time. I have to refrain from using expletives, but we really enjoyed eating here and I can't wait to go back.
This place must use magic it's just that unbelievably delicious!!! Everything is Vegan ? I recommend the breakfast burrito, the fried pickles, and the vegan tuna sandwich. Can't wait to try more menu items ?
I came to the MotoSonora Brewery with some friends. I tried out this food truck after reading the menu online. I had the Burger (without the pickled onions and dill pickles) and the Banana Split. The burger bun was gluten free, for those that can't have gluten I am sure this is a great option, but for me it was a bit lacking. The rest of the burger was good. The banana split (as you can see by the photo) looked like it had been dropped and looked nothing like a banana split, additionally there was no chocolate syrup as stated in the description. I will say I was not a fan of the cashew ice cream, but the organic banana and coconut whip cream were very good. Would have loved to try out the chocolate syrup, but like I said, that wasn't added. Service was relatively quick given how busy the person was behind the counter. On the plus side you can wait at the brewery while they make your order. Once done they will text you when it is ready.
The food is amazing! Extra points for being vegan and so good.It would be a 5 (or 7 if they let me) star review, but there is an execution issue with substance.I've ordered 3 different times from the food truck outside of Moto Sonora and the food always takes longer than advertised. It is well worth the price, but everyone should order before they get beers, so the food arrives during round 2 or 3. From ordering last Saturday during prime time it took over an hour for the order to be ready. It was delicious, and the vegan Sonoran Dog was so good my German date couldn't say anything bad about American approaches to sausages- but it was an extreme wait
One of my favorite vegan places in the state! I was going to say in town but it really is at the top there. This is definitely not fast food in the best way. Every meal I’ve had here has been amazing. I usually go for the substance burger with a side of diner fries and ranch. One of the best vegan ranch I’ve tried so far! Definitely give it a try if you are looking for a yummy vegan place. Just make sure to order a head of time. I think a 20-30 min wait is pretty normal. You call or place an order online.
my partner and I are vegan and this is our new favorite place in Tucson! We loved the Philly❤️ if you haven’t been here whether you’re vegan or not you have to try it and then you can eat your food in the sweet lil beer garden next door. perfect for date night
The food really is amazing. Love the fishless tuna and BLT. If you order food between 5-8pm, order it an hour before you’ll want it. The past few times we’ve ordered food, it’s not ready until at least half an hour after the time given on the confirmation text we get. It’s a one person operation, so they’re always busy and they do hustle. But it is still a bummer to wait an extra half hour to 45 min on top of the estimated wait time for a sandwich.
SO good but SO pricey. $13 for a milkshake? $15 for a chicken sandwich?? EIGHT dollars for a single hot dog? it’s insane, i hope they lower their prices- but the food is amazing.
