This is an enjoyable Mexican restaurant convenient to Catalina and Saddlebrooke, with very good food and great service. We're semi-regulars and always have a good time here. Last visit, they had a great pineapple margarita that really was excellent. Chips are nice and thick (salsa is a tad thin but still good). Guacamole is very good as well. I like the sour cream green tomatillo enchiladas (as well as the regular cheese and onion red sauce ones). There's patio dining and music on certain nights as well.
Four of us went there for lunch yesterday. We all had something different from the lunch menu and were very happy with the food, the portions, the service, and the price (around $10). We sat outside and it was very pleasant.
3 fried tacos for $20? I don't think so!So I had a $15 Taco Salad, which was very small and consisted of torn up head lettuce and maybe a tablespoon of unseasoned hamburger.I had not been to Mi Tierra in 20 years because the food was so bad way back then, but my friend wanted to go, so I went, hoping that the food had improved...it hadn't.I describe Mi Tierra as a restaurant that serves Mexican food for people who don't like Mexican food. Or don't know what Mexican food really is.
Was surprised the online menu did not have prices but ordered anyway and found to my dismay that 2 dinners and an appetizer ran $58... (Grilled chicken tacos, chile relleno, nachos) That would be 2 filets at Bob's Steakhouse, cannot pay that much for Mexican food.
First, let me talk about the positives: the server, Brian, was great. He was friendly and attentive and did a good job. The margarita I ordered was very good. I ordered the flautas/enchilada combo (#9) and was very disappointed. The chicken flautas were overdone to the point of being barely edible, and I never got the enchilada. I’d heard that the tortilla chips were homemade and very good, but if tonight’s chips were homemade, they were made by the same person who made the flautas, and the salsa was bland and lacked character. The ambiance is good and the service was decent, but you can’t serve food like that in a city with so much competition for fans of Mexican food if you want return customers.
Good food. Enchiladas and Prickly Pear Margarita!
The food and service was as you would expect. Nothing great but OK. However, The prices and some what high for what you get. 18.50 for 3 ordinary tacos with a small serving of rice and beans I feel is a bit too much. As there are many Mexican restaurants in this area which are much cheaper and food is as good or better it maybe awhile before we come back
Great food and atmosphere.
Food was good. Server from New York was awesome. Apologize can't remember name, but great server and person. Food is a bit pricey for what you get but I am happy to pay the extra for great service and atmosphere.
We just love it here, and so do others we know. The Chilean sea bass is To Fie For, but it's a special, so not always there. The flat enchiladas are another win - and a must-try, as they are certainly not something you see everywhere, and they're a Sonoran specialty, not to mention delish. The grilled tacos (chef's fave) are another recommendation! If you've got a group, it's worth getting a pitcher of margaritas.And.....they make their own flan daily.
