Excellent service, (thank you Gabe). The food was delivered quickly and was good but I've had better. We both had the El Corral cut prime rib.It was a perfect size. The salad, rolls, baked potato and tamale pie were very good. The prime rib didn't have a lot of flavor and there was quite a bit of fat but it was cooked right and was fairly tender.I prefer creamed horseradish but it was ok.We might come back sometime.
This type of grill house is my favorite, there's absolutely no need to spend $20 on a side a mash potatoes when you can get a loaded baked potato for $3 or house made tamale pie for $2!It's all about grilled meats! And meats that are perfectly cooked served right and the people that bring that food to you.I go combo plate every time: Tucson chicken breast, (a whole breast they give you), and whatever grilled steak I feel like. After that's eaten, I go for Adobe Mud Pie!So I give this establishment a 4 out of 5 because their wine list kills me! They need to being in some more and some better choices. And the ambiance is not bad, but needs an overhaul from 1995.You'll love this place, most of the service staff have been there 10 plus years. ENJOY!!!
Was able to get us right in. Very friendly staff. We all ordered the prime rib in different sizes but all came out looking the same. Watch out for the horseradish, will clean out your sinuses.
Nice property and atmosphere. I think they were severely understaffed at the time we visited, and we did have a large group. Ribs and steaks were subpar, filet mignon steaks unedible (4 folks could not eat) but it was the cut of meat, tho never had this problem. BUT.. the Tamale Pie and Corn Fritters we're to DIE for!!
We have always enjoyed our dinners at El Corral until our visit on Sunday March 27. We arrived as a party of 6, gave our name at the desk & waited well over an hour never hearing anything about seating. We were never told it would be that long of a wait & it was quite frustrating to see smaller parties of 2-4 come after us & get seated well before us. We checked with the desk to no avail. Finally giving up, we left to find another establishment to seat our party. We did & the rest of our evening was salvaged. Sadly it will be a very long time, if ever, before we visit again. My advice to any one wanting to seat a large group-find a place that takes reservations to assure seating.
I had been here before and had a great experience with food and customer service. This was my 2nd time hoping for a repeat but sadly it wasn't as memorable as the first. The bad: Our salads were a garden mix with a single tomato and single cucumber slice while another in our party did not even get a cucumber. (I know it's salad but still throw in a few toppers to make it feel like it was worth what you pay for)The signature Tamale pie tasted on the over done part with a slight taste of burnt mixed in. I don't recall it tasting like this my first time. The Tucson Chicken plate portion was smaller than expected. The Good:Our waiter Kevin was excellent! Attentive to refills and checking often on us to see if we needed anything else. (He even gave us fresh french fries due to the original order getting soggy while the other food finished getting ready)Loaded potatoes were amazing and packed with enough toppers. The "Catalina Cut" Prime rib was huge! Bigger than I thought it would be.All in all I will plan to return but definitely not a preferred steakhouse for the cost of the meals.
Don’t believe the “best steak in Tucson hype.” The meat was over cooked and tough. The chili appetizer had no flavor. The two best things were the tamale pie and our waitress.
Established older restaurant that everyone said we had to check out while in Tucson. The decor was fun, old southwest, with I believe chairs that were suites for people 75 years ago lol, not very comfy for my ample backside, and the waitress and staff were friendly, prompt and efficient. We had prime rib, which I understood to be what they’re most known for. They also have a tamale pie which we tried along with the adobe mud pie (dessert) , onion rings and corn fritters. The corn fritters were good. crispy outside soft and warm inside. the dipping sauce wasn’t my fave, prickly pear (I think) which was almost like perfume? Onion rings were battered and fried perfectly. The house dressing was very good, the salads were fresh and good sized. The prime rib tho we asked for medium rare were more rare(which was ok) but had no seasoning at all. Just average and I had to salt mine liberally. Overall it was an ok dining experience but not remarkable and now I can say I’ve been but have no intentions on returning. With Tucson being the gastronomical city that it is there are so many other places to try first.
We had such an enjoyable birthday dinner celebration here. The waitress was very attentive, and the rest of the staff we encountered were courteous. The steaks were delicious!! I bit more care could be taken with plating...the salads and sides were messy. I had to knock off 1 star because we had a reservation and we still had to wait almost 30 minutes outside to be seated. I understand this can happen, but if I had something important to do after dinner, I may choose another restaurant.
Updating my review since I went back. I'm pleased to say whatever issues they were having in the kitchen have been resolved. The quality is back on point to what it used to be. Fond memories of coming here as a kid surfaced when I got the prime rib once again. The prime rib was well seasoned, extremely tender and cooked to a perfect mid rare. The place was packed when I came to pick up my order. The staff were fully masked and I'd say 40% of the patrons waiting to be seated were masked. I'd recommend take out if you are immunocompromised or want to steer clear of the possibility of catching the bug. The establishment and their staff were doing their part to keep patrons safe. Thankfully, the food was fantastic after the drive home! Been coming since I was a kid and will continue to do so!
