Went there based on a friends recommendation having high hopes but then saw what kind of shop it was; dirty, poorly lit, and miserable looking employees. Asked for 4 pounds of ground chuck and the employee looked at me repeating ‘ 4 pounds?’ And I confirmed 4 pounds. While employee #1 packages my order me and another buddy saw employee #2 scratching his head with the clear gloves on and proceeded to touch the meat he was cutting. While paying, we witnessed employee #3 with cellphone in right hand and his left hand resting on a steak. Fast forward to getting home and getting ready to season the ground chuck, we noticed that a majority of the meat was a brownish grey color in the middle of our 4 pound loaf with a spoiled smell to it. With everything that we witnessed at the shop, we unfortunately ended up throwing away the meat and going to fry’s instead. Zero out of 5 stars.

Don’t go elsewhere looking for choice cuts of steak anywhere else. I’ve been on this planet for some time now and I can honestly state that Dickman’s ugly steaks are so incredible that they could bring about world peace. Don’t forget to grab some of their landjaegers for the ride home.

Just called to inquire about a gift certificate. I mentioned that my brother goes there every week to buy steaks and meat and chats with the owner. I mentioned that I heard he is from Wisconsin and that’s where I am calling from. I asked if I could purchase a gift card and if they could mail it out to me, to my brother, or hold it until he comes in; I have a credit card ready to purchase. She said No we don’t do that . I said that’s too bad and hung up. I guess I will go call Ugly Steaks ?
It IS good meat, good steaks and lots of fun and interesting food, but I feel like they have been taking advantage of this inflation obsession sweeping the nation. I can understand the steaks going up 30 or 40% this last year, as beef has gone up that much, but the ugly steaks($14.99/lb!) and Jan's special steaks have tripled and are now more than bone-in ribeye's. Just too pricey for me now, the exact same ugly steak at my other butcher in Texas are $6.99/lb and I complained to him too.
This isn’t really much of a restaurant. This is a deli / meat shop with just a few tables. In addition to a small deli and meat counter, there is a huge freezer along the back wall with every kind of meat you can imagine including many unique types and cuts. Much of it looked like it had been in the freezer a long time with a bit of frost. I didn’t purchase any as much of it made me wonder if it had freezer burn!? They also had a few shelves of sauces and seasonings. The place had an odd smell as well making us wonder about the freshness and making it undesirable.
Meats are always top notch. Love the ugly steaks. Fast friendly people.
