This place scores high marks in all the right places:- Delicious steak- Casual dining (wear comfy clothes)- Old western pub atmosphere- Value for your $$$
This IS the best place in town. I go out to eat a lot and in 10 years have never found a place that has fall off the bone ribs and beans that taste like someone knows how to cook. If you don't love this place, you need to stay home and cook !!! T-Bone with perfect seasoning ! Well done Daisy Mae's !
Everyone raves about this place. I wasn't very impressed. It may have been an off night but or steaks were extremely tough. We had Sirloins which aren't the most to ender steaks but, these were really tough. The servers didn't come back for a while so we just ate everything except the steaks. On another note, one in our party had ribs. I was lucky enough to have some. These are easily some of the best ribs I've eaten.
Fantastic food cooked over a traditional mesquite wood fire, giving all the meat dishes incredible flavors- we ordered buffalo wings, roast chicken and baby back ribs. Fancy cocktail menu too and great deserts - homemade apple pie was amazing. If you are looking for a real down to earth western cowboy style steakhouse, this is your spot.
The chicken wings were delicious but the steak was very disappointing. For a steakhouse (and the price) I expected a perfectly cooked steak but half was well done and half was almost rare....I asked for medium rare. I'd go back for wings but thats about all.
Rustic! Well worn! If you expect linen and china don’t come here. Very friendly and superb staff (seemed quite young to this oldster), great ambiance with dollar bills on wall. Simple “cowboy” food with excellent preparation. 14 oz Ribeye was superb (to share) and with potatoes, salads, beans and Texas toast was quite filling. House Cabernet was excellent (leaping horse) as was thunder chocolate cake (shared at home, lol). Waitress Annaleah (spelling) was super! We’ll be back next time in the area.
Everyone said you need to try Daisy Mae's for chicken wings and a steak. I said OK I like both of those! Gave it a try one night with co-workers. Ordered the must have chicken wing app, waitress said you want the extra crispy? I should have caught on then! They came out totally charred, cold and totally below expectation. The steak and by the way it comes with bake potato only no other options like French fries, in a steak house. Steak was a rack steak @ wal-mart quality;-( Ordered top shelf Marg with Don Julio but I don't this it was anything different than a basic house marg. All this while 2 of the 2 wait staff were sitting at the bar chatting with the bartender. Cross that one off the return list!!
Daisy Mae is not a fancy place. Concrete floors, rustic (dated) interior, and wide screen TVs in the bar/dining room. IIRC, they did not have table cloths. But they have a good bar list and a very good dining menu. We had steaks and they were prepared fine. The cut of meat was very good. Everything was delicious.
Meal comes with salad, baked potato and beans. Salad is basically just iceberg lettuce. Baked potato and beans were ok but what can you do to mess that up. My rib eye was cooked rare as ordered but was full of fat and gristle,at least 30% of steak, and what was edible was extremely tough. My wife's filet was much more satisfactory and tender as you would expect. Service was slow but otherwise fine. We're not from thee Tucson area but would expect that there must be better quality steak houses for the price.
A pleasant surprise. I've heard about it for a few years now and finally decided to try it out. I've been to many a high-end steak house in Tucson. The expensive decor matches the expensive price of the food. Daisy Mae's isn't like that at all. The steaks are terrific! Everything is reasonably priced. I don't care about the decor if the food is great, and the steaks are great! The 18 ounce T-bone is pure carnivor heaven. Can't wait to go back!
