I'll let you in on a secret if you didn't know already:Any place that serves you food on paper plates is going to be amazing.I couldn't care less about service. Not that they are bad. They are really good actually. But I don't really care how good the service is in most places. I care about the food. And the food here will not disappoint. The egg rolls are ridiculously good. The Shack Fried Noodle is my main dish, but the Shack Fried rice is pretty amazing too.For you spice enthusiasts like myself, if you ask for the spiciest they can provide, be warned, it actually packs a punch. Pleasantly surprised to have my lips go numb and my face sweat for once. All in all it's a nice spot and I highly recommend.
I had the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio Vermicelli Bowl with beef and a pork egg roll. It was a simple bowl with complimenting flavors. It was fresh and filling. The pork egg roll was excellent.
Delicious! A small family run business. In a strip mall yet don't let that fool you. They are busy. And good. At lunchtime there was nowhere to sit. The Vietnamese iced coffee is French pressed, strong, cold and refreshing. The noodle dish was huge with lots of meat and the fried egg roll was crisp and crunchy. Flavors were authentic and blended well. Overall definitely a 5 star meal!
We went here because of the 5 star reviews and were totally disappointed …. the food is served on paper plates with plastic utensils and the quality is as good as a 2 Star Chinese restaurant. I am totally amazed with what people rate 5 stars these days. If this small shack deserves five stars then legit Vietnamese Restaurants we have been to in the Phoenix Metro area deserve a Two Michelin rating. The owners are friendly hard workers but that’s no reason to grade sub par Chinese food as GREAT Vietnamese Cuisine. If you go here do NOT expect top notch Vietnamese food.
I have walked past this little restaurant SEVERAL times but today.. the smell of the food just captured me! as I waited for my son to get his haircut next door, I saw so many ppl coming and going. So after the cut, I looked at their menu online and decided to give it try and BOY am I glad I did.I got the Shack Fried Noodles. So good! I told myself I would eat what I could and eat the rest later and I ate it all in one sitting. Veggies, beef and noodles were cooked to perfection and loaded w flavor.Cheese Wontons- I should of just got the 5pc. So good, crispy and fresh.Shrimp Crispy Fried Eggrolls- again, delicious! Crispy, hot and fresh. Perfect veggie to shrimp ratio.I will definitely come back to this place and highly recommend you stop in and give them a try! I hear their coffee is AWESOME here too. They do have a dinning room but it is on the small side!
Got stuck over this way for work, was looking for something to kill some time while traffic cleared up.I had a vermicelli bowl with chicken. To say that it was first rate is sort of an understatement. They just nailed it on so many levels. I’m really sad that I live 20 miles away! The sauce for the vermicelli is absolutely fantastic! As was the chicken and everything else about it. ON POINT! ?
My partner and I made the trek to Vietshack from Phoenix after going to the movies. We read the raving reviews, and as banh mi fanatics, we had to give it a try while in the Phoenix area. It’s a cute, small restaurant in a shopping plaza. There are a few tables and one outside to eat at. The decor was simple, but fit well.Service was great, the person attending the front was nice and attentive, and even asked if we wanted our banh mi without Mayo unprompted. We ordered the tofu banh mi, veggie spring rolls, and the tofu and veggie noodle stir fry (mi xao? I forge true name). The banh mi (our main draw) was nearly perfect - but the fillings weren’t layered well. The spring rolls were nice - they had pickled veggies and the peanut sauce was good as well. The noodle dish were delicious, but needed the provided soy sauce, and we added sriracha. Moreover, this is maybe the best tofu I’ve ever had. It’s amazing - go here.
We are from out of town and searched food places near us. This place popped up. It was so good. Great Vietnamese food, fast. We had a Banh Mi sandwich and the beef and broccoli noodles. Egg rolls were excellent! I’d come back next time we are in town! Service was friendly!
This is my fourth or fifth visit and each visit has been great. Viet Shack is a small joint (maybe seats 15 people) with big flavor. While some Vietnamese restaurants overwhelm you with hundreds of dishes, Viet Shack has a small menu of delightful classics. I made a satisfying meal of one order of egg rolls (3 in order), spring rolls, and a pork bahn mi. The egg rolls came with crisp lettuce and fragrant mint and cilantro. The spring rolls had a wonderful bite with firm shrimp and crunchy veggies. The bahn mi had plenty of pork and the right amount of veggies inside fantastic bread. I was perfectly satisfied. The staff has always been welcoming and pleasantly chatty.
We go here all the time specifically for the banh mi with grilled pork, which you HAVE TO GET. The grilled pork is just so flavorful and delicious. Their crispy fried egg rolls are very good as well. We still haven't tried much of the rest of their menu because those grilled pork banh mis are so amazing that it's too hard to not order that every time. The price is really great too. Staff are always very friendly.
