The best Mexican in Sedona! Homemade, organic authentic and cool outdoor area with awesome views!!
Visited with wife--ordered two tamales, chicken and veggie--both were exceptional! Fresh ingredients prepared in a small kitchen.
Everything here is AMAZING!!! The staff is very welcoming and kind. This is the type of Mexican cuising that puts 'Americanized' mexican-themed restuarants to shame - no refried beans anywhere in sight. Everything on the plate is fresh and filling. The tamales were so good that after finishing my meal I put in an order to-go for a few extras. This brought me back to my roots of eating authenic Latin American cuisine in my grandmothers kitchen. Will absolutely be returning to Tamaliza during my next visit. If you have the chance, consider using the outdoor patio on a sunny day - great views to the south.
Wonderful home cooking, Mexican! Fresh tamales with vegan options, friendly staff. Worth your vacation dollars, and for Sedona, not too bad.
YUM! Tamaliza is a definite gem in Sedona. I got the vegan supreme and my husband got the chicken in mole tamale. Both were excellent. The service was great - definitely family run. Tamaliza is a must eat while in Sedona.
This place earns 5 stars all around. Absolutely nothing about my experience was less than stellar. If I'm ever back in the area, this is the one restaurant I have to go back to.From the artwork to the layout to the very regional flavors, it's truly folksy.
It is labeled with google as a $ place but it definitely is not!!! $7 quesadilla was so tiny and that my 7 yo Doughter laughed when she saw those two tiny triangles on a mini plate. $8, $9 tamales!!!! Service wasn’t great u have to wait to order. Place is very tiny. 2 tacos $17 and 2 enchiladas $18. My total bill for 1 quesadilla, 2 tacos, 2 enchiladas 2 tamales and very tiny chips and guacamole without any drinks was $85. The whole family left that place a little disappointed. DO NOT TRUST THE $ SING on google. As far as service goes just check the owners answers to not so good reviews. Its a joke!!!
We were drawn in by the positive reviews, but won't be back. Food is authentic, yes, but not exceptional. We had better tamales at The Local in Prescott, and better tacos and mole from Tres Amigos in Flagstaff. The prices are absurd: 6$ for a dessert-sized-bowl of chips, and 3$ for a tiny saucer of sauce!? The owner was unwelcoming and service was indifferent and snail-slow, and when our meals finally came out they came... one... plate... at... a... time. So many other great options - skip this one.
The good: My wife had a delicious mole enchilada. This seems a hard working family small business. But, I had an awful veggie taco with the weirdest tasteless mushrooms as the main ingredient (a mushy sauteed mushroom taco should have been its name on the menu). I asked to exchange to the spinach taco I requested along with a second bowl of chips. I was told I would have to pay for both but after some hassle, they remade a fine spinach taco with beans and cheese. Very touristy prices and treamtment of customers (cold, distanced, unhelpful except for two underaged girls, one a child, the other a teen who were working). I had ordered a $5 bowl of guacamole which was so cut with water, mayo and cucumbers (who puts cucumbers in guac?), that it was unrecognizable as an avocado base. I assumed chips came with that but was told I had to pay extra for a bowl of chips.
Small but mighty describes this little gem in the heart of Sedona between west and downtown areas right on 89A. We had the enchiladas and tacos - both vegan options (oyster mushrooms in adobe sauce!)… everything was delicious. They even made me a vegan Horchata with coconut milk. You can feel the family pride and love here, feels like you’re in someone’s kitchen.
