The best thing I can say is that they didn’t screw up the beer. We came in for a fathers day brunch and took a seat at the bar to avoid a 30 minute wait for two, although the restaurant was about half empty. We ordered immediately and it took over half an hour for avacado toast and eggs Benedict. Both were inedible. Toast for avacado toast was so chewy that we sent it back. Eggs Benedict was the worst in my life with the eggs being way overdone and the “English muffin”, or whatever they used as a substitute for it, was just like the toast and hard/chewy.The only upside is that they didn’t charge us for the food, I think they were aware of what the kitchen was putting out. Had we paid for that food it would’ve been a one star. We’re on our way to Starbucks now to get some food because we’re starving.
The Vig is an eclectic American style restaurant inside the McCormick Ranch shopping center. There's a ton of parking outside, and inside there are plenty of tables which makes it an easy place to eat since there's usually something available. The staff are amazing, our waiter Bob really knew his stuff while being friendly, funny, and helpful in recommending food for our big party. Drinks have a bit of a heavy pour, and portion sizes in general are a very good size, so the prices are spot on to what they should be. The food was delicious, especially the appetizers. I'd recommend the shishito peppers, chips and dip, pretzel (weird choice, I know, but local bread made it fresh and tasty), and the broccolini. For dinner, you cannot go wrong with the Argentinian steak or the short ribs, even the scampi was good. Would highly recommend eating here, but make sure to make a reservation for bigger groups to save time and effort.
Great meal on Wednesday evening and yummy margaritas! Good service too. I had the salmon served on a bed of chopped Brussels sprouts with bacon. Staff was knowledgeable on handling a gluten allergy as well. No issues and food was delicious. So sad I forgot to take a picture.
We had a half hour wait outside followed by over a hour wait after we ordered. The appetizers were really good, but the food was not great. It came out cold, and in the case of my chilaquiles, they were soggy almost soupy with very little flavor. I wanted to love it, great location, beautiful decor but I wouldn't go back.
We have been to the Vig many times since it has been opened and always been happy. The last time we went it seemed like something changed- the hostess was grumpy and then we were sat on the patio with M-F Happy Hour menus even though it was Sunday. We were ignored for 15 minutes while 4-5 servers/bartenders socialized. 15 minutes later the bar back brings us water and silverware and we ask for a full menu and find out they are only serving happy hour appetizers and not full menu (why didn't the hostess tell us?). We ask him what time the full menu will be served and he says he will go check. We see him going back to cleaning and ignoring us. At this point its been over 20 minutes and we have no server and no idea if they are serving anything more than hummus plates- not like they were busy only a handful of tables were occupied. I get up and ask the group of bartenders/servers socializing and they look at me like I have seven heads for disrupting them. In the meantime the manager is in the corner on his computer watching the whole thing. We had to walk out after the horrible customer service. Very disappointing.
Great service. Burger was good. Lunch was easy to get outdoors table on Friday.
We visited a couple weeks ago and they literally forgot about our table. It was so bad. I ate my food when I got it two hours later because I was STARVING- but I don’t remember what it tasted like. The guy gave us corn nuts to munch on once he realized- come on. I never ever had an issue with the vig until now. Hopefully they can step it up because it’s too good a place to do this.
The waiters were obviously uncomfortable with me and my families presence. They switched servers 4 times on us. The first that attended was blatantly avoiding serving us and became annoyed when we would ask again for items previously requested. The food definitely did not make up for the service...all sauces tasteless, tacos were edible but nothing worth raving about. My sisters shrimp tasted unwashed. The waitress was rude to my sister on multiple occasions. The Final server was better at faking her niceness...only left a tip because she tried...otherwise one of the worst over priced places I've been to for the lack of taste and customer service.
Empty restaurant, wouldn’t sit us because there was 10 of us and told us to wait about 45 min. We agreed and waited. We said we could split into different tables if it makes it easier for them and they still said no because kitchen was busy. I can count how many tables were occupied. I understand businesses are understaffed but as customers we are patient and are aware of this. When I asked for status, hostess said “you’ve only waited 20 minutes, you got 40 more.” It is very obvious they didn’t want our service. We just wanted a nice family dinner. I don’t know if the food is good or not, but I go to places based on customer service.
We were arriving from separate locations; just a nice time to gather and catch up but as it turned out the other gal was ill and her husband got lost!!l Anyway, we were there on time and enjoyed a glass of wine while waiting.... then eventually a blood orange margarita which was really delicious!! We all had sliders but I was not impressed with the food. The service was good and attentive but the food didn't impress.
