Just arrived in Az and had to make the Donkey the first nights meal! Always the best food!

I was so looking forward to going to this place and I was extremely disappointed in the food. I ordered the guacamole with my chips and it had a grayish look but tasted OK. I ordered taquitos and they came looking like they had been dropped and literally falling apart, and over fried. I asked the bartender if they were hand rolled and he laughed and didnât say anything. Long story short⦠I ended up getting sick 30 minutes later either off the guacamole or the taquitos⦠Probably both This is a place you may want to rethink for dinner.
The only issue I had was they do not service chips and salsa gratis when seated. The prices were fairly high on the food, though very good. Can't they give a bowl of chips and salsa?
Hi good food nice place pity about the silly 20% service charge for only FIVE people ie a normal family unit . Not charged at resorts like the 4 seasons who have better quality of service . Need to bin this charge now .

We're regulars with high expectations. The host quickly accommodated our request for a specific table. Despite it being a Saturday evening, which is still pretty busy even off-season, the chef was very accommodating with a few special requests, and the food was (as always) excellent. Our minor disappointment was with the server's attitude - too quick to recommend the most expensive cocktails as the best, a little too slow on checking-in, water refills, etc., and pretty transparent in wanting to see the table turn. That is typically not the case, so it didn't diminish an otherwise delightful meal.
The food was delicious. However, the AC was not working and, because it was July, we sweated throughout the dinner. I was entertaining out of town guests and it did not create a good impression.
We LOVE the Spotted Donkey! Our server was fabulous and the food was great as usual!
