We have eaten at Murphys several times over the years and thought they had good food. We went there for dinner last night and were very disappointed . While the service was good the food was terrible, Rib eye ordered med rare was burnt on the outside and completely raw in the center Lobster was rubbery and overcooked and the top sirloin was extremely tough . I think the food has gone way down hill as the prices have gone up and we will not be going back for dinner. I am guessing they have a new cook ( definitely not a chef!!) I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for fine dinning in Prescott
It has been a while since I’ve had as bad an experience as I did here for the money we paid. We ordered a ribeye and a filet hoping for the best. My filet came out blue rare when I ordered medium and my friends ribeye was maybe a quarter inch think and raw. There was virtually no flavor to the steaks. We ordered a “jumbo” shrimp cocktail and out came some of what I can only describe as anything but jumbo. It just feels like this is a restaurant that is more focused on squeezing everything they can out of the customer as opposed to offering a quality experience. 2 entrees with no drinks and a shrimp cocktail amounted to $160.On the plus side, the lettuce wedge was nice.
My dinner at Murphy's was not an overall positive experience. I will say that it's a nice dining room, good atmosphere, and when they got the food right, it was good. However a few things for other potential diners to note: 1) Watch the bartender mix your drink. I ordered a Manhattan, my mother ordered a Scotch and water. I asked for the well bourbon when the waitress asked if I had a preference. My drink arrived as watered down as my mother's--not a Manhattan, certainly (which contains no water). I figured they gave me bourbon and water and didn't question. On the bill, first I was charged for a premium bourbon, and then an addition charge for Manhattan set-up. At best it was an honest mix-up, however a person I met later told me this is 'normal' at Murphy's that they pour a well and charge for a premium. I cannot verify this, however it is consistent with my experience--and if so is outright fraud. 2) I ordered the fried catfish. What arrived was a thick slab of breaded fish, completely raw all the way to the tip. All 3 pieces. It also didn't look like catfish, but some other white fish. I sent it back and got a new plate of nicely cooked and tasty fillets that were catfish. 3) The waitress asked both my mother and me if we wanted any toppings on the potatoes. I declined, as I thought it odd to add toppings for garlic mashed potatoes. My mother asked for sour cream and bacon on her baked potato. On the bill was a $1.25 charge for each topping! For a couple bits of bacon?---and what's more I didn't see this disclosed on the menu, and the waitress certainly never mentioned it. So diner beware if you eat here--be very certain of what you are ordering, and that you know all their 'hidden' fees. It seems that unfortunately Murphy's is trying to cut corners to profitability during these difficult times and taking it out on their customers.
Great prime rib, very rare, just the way we like it. The meal arrived astonishingly fast. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Nice ambiance.
My husband and I have had many dinners at Murphy's and have never had a bad meal until last night. My husband had the top sirloin, ordered medium but it came out rare. I had the pork chop which was the worst pork chop I have ever had, with some type of awful gravy smothering it. Our server was great and the manager did give us a discount on our entree. I am not sure we will go back.
Atmosphere is very nice for sure .It was St. Patrick’s Day , and very busy , so we managed to get a dinner reservation at 4:30pm, so the tables were maybe 1/3 full . The rest of the evening was booked . Our waitress to say the least was not very attentive. We were the only table at that time in her station ,and she was working on , so no excuse . She took our drinks and never came back until she wanted to take our dinner order . I stated I don’t want my drinks when the dinner comes . Guess what ? That is when it came . She blamed it on the bar being busy , but we could see the bar . The staff behind the bar was on top of their game and was not backed up . I believe she never put in our order . It was very apparent they were told by management, to get the people fed and move them out in less than 30 to 45 minutes . I saw other tables being rushed and dinners were coming before they even took a sip of their cocktails, wine , etc , and also those having salads and soup prior to the meals they ordered . Nothing is more irritating trying to make room for your dinner that is being placed in front of you while you have a salad , soup you are still eating . Had we been having a regular item from the very expensive menu , we would have gotten up and walked out . We ordered from the special menu of Corned Beef and Cabbage which was good .
Murphy's is adequate at best. A consistent mediocrity since my first meal there in 1991. Today, a very poorly cooked omelette stimulated a violent rejection by my body. So much so I wonder if it had been contaminated by unwashed bathroom hands. Unfortunate things happen, but the manager did not inspire forgiveness with his off hand response - "others have eaten omelettes today and they weren't sick."

Our party of 3 enjoyed our Saturday night dinner here. Our loft seats allowed for unique view of restaurant. Ambiance was good but I wouldn’t say romantic. Our table was ready as reserved. All staff were genuinely pleasant. Our server Holly was attentive and fun. Our meals arrived promptly. Everything was as ordered and very good.
Outstanding meals. Friendly and knowledgeable server. Made for a great evening out.
