Umami BBQ Sushi is the bomb!! I’m so happy right now. The Happy Hour prices are on point. The staff are friendly. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with the most happiest hostess. Then I sat down at the sushi bar and Kai delivered my food with a smile. He serenaded us at the sushi bar and it was fun and entertaining. The food was divine. Check out the photos. I ordered the Firecracker and Las Vegas roll, calamari and shrimp tempura. The sushi bar gave me a complimentary cucumber salad to start with. I’ll definitely be back! Oh yea … I gotta give a shout out to my bartender, Stephanie … my Umami Mule was perfect!! Thank you to the hostess, Krysta for being so gracious and happy when I walked in.

The vibe here was perfect - I sat at the sushi bar and was entertained by the team as well as the food! Would definitely recommend!

Excellent, fresh, delicious creativity sushi and service! High recommend! We’re going back next week. Best sushi and superb service with a smile in Scottsdale!

Had some great drinks made by bartender Stephanie and had a great time stumbled upon this place after my date and I can’t wait to be off and come in again! She made me a mojito and my sister a virgin and both were amazing!!

Awesome place with very cool interior decor and amazing service and food. Kelsey was my server/bartender and she was as kind and personable a server as I’ve had. Her recommendations on the menu were not only spot on, but insanely delicious. I started with the soft shell crab which was insanely tender and juicy. Full of flavor. Kelsey then helped me decide on the lollipop rice less roll, the scallop tempura roll and the escolar sashimi. Her best recommendation of the night was the FRESH WASABI. Omg Ive never had fresh wasabi and now I don’t know how I’ll ever go back from it. The lollipop roll was spicy, tender, and the crab salad added a nice flavor to it. Paired with fresh wasabi it had a delicious flavor profile. The escolar was tender, flavorful, and melted in my mouth. Some of the best escolar I’ve had, hands down. Could’ve eaten 20 more pieces of it it was so good. The scallop tempura roll was a nice change of pace. The friend scallop pieces come stop the California roll, the scallop pieces are friend to a crispy golden brown but the scallops inside are moist, tender and delicious. Really the food is delicious, the atmosphere is incredible but the service, Kelsey in particular, is fantastic. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for some good eats!

wonderful unique rolls and best veggie roll I've ever had!

Nice atmosphere, friendly service & a great menu variety. We found the food to be over priced & over rated. For the price, we expected the food to be "wow" not "meh".

Amazing sushi restaurant! Fresh, authentic fish mixed with an authentic atmosphere and friendly servers.

If you have a strict criteria for what Japanese and Korean cuisine is, or are eating with someone who does, I would temper your expectations. It is still a good place to try both types of cuisine and have a drink with friends, but it has more of a sports bar vibe than izakaya. The menu has many options and the flavors are great. However, it's not all traditional in some of the preparation styles. The batter used for some dishes like tempura, takoyaki, and soft shell crab are more western, and the gyoza wasn't pan fried, so overall some breaded dishes were a bit heavier and crunchier, but again, the flavors are still there. If you are picky about the ingredients and preparation style, have an open mind or stick to the sushi bar or kbbq grill, you won't find many places offering both options.
