Came to this restaurant because we were staying next door at the Rise Hotel, Phoenix. Meeting relatives who recommended it - I assumed because it was right next door to our hotel. Consequently, I wasn't expecting great food - just convenience. Boy was I surprised. The food was excellent. I had what our waiter, Eddy, recommended as their signature dish - fried chicken. It was excellent - crispy on the outside and very moist and tender on the inside. The accompanying potatoes and collard greens were also excellent. There was more chicken than I could possibly consume at one sitting. Also recommend their hummus appetizer - made with white beans instead of garbanzo beans and covered in red and green peppers - I am not sure how the peppers were prepared, but the flavor was wonderful. Extensive wine list, and had a list of "specials" of wines that the restaurant was trying finish. Owner Scott also serves as Maitre D, and the service from our waiter was informed, cheerful and efficient. I'll be back.
Fried chicken was excellent and the.re was lots of it. Great whiskey and beer selection.
Food was fantastic! Service excellent. One of our favorite spots in all of Phoenix. * AC was on blast due to it be 110. Bring something to throw over yourself in case you get sat under an AC vent
Not only is the service exceptional but every person is friendly and caring. The food was outstanding and not just the fried chicken they are so famous for. If you are eating lighter the salmon was perfection. We also look for their creative appetizers which quite often feature vegetables. Our meal just couldn't have been better.
The place is absolutely adorable! The food and service was amazing
Fantastic service great food
Enjoy our meal; friendly service
What a surprise find! We ordered their House Specialty Fried Chicken and the Salmon. Two completely different styles of cooking - one down-home country, the other upscale - and they nailed both of them. The salmon came with a hot orzo blend that was *delicious*. The fried chicken had a wonderful crunch to the skin - love that. I like extra crispy. They also have an *extensive* bourbon list, and feature Arizona wines. We had an early reservation so it hadn't filled up yet. I had originally requested an outside table, but a storm blew in so we ended up inside, but I liked the fact that I could request an outside table via OpenTable. Our waiter was on point. He noticed when our beverages got low and proactively brought us refills. He took the time to explain some of the logistics/relationships between the restaurant and the other businesses that share the building (a bookstore and a bar/event place). The décor is interesting - lots of unusual pieces around the room. I do wish there was more noise dampening in there. As the place filled up, it was a little hard to hear. Restrooms were easy to find, clean, and stocked. The only real con is the parking lot was very small, and because it's shared with two other businesses, you can't predict when it will be full. We will very definitely be back!
Great food, great ambiance. We keep coming back. Also excellent service!!!
