I don't go there often because it is a long drive, but it is worth the drive. They have Brötchen just like in Germany. They also have good pastries and wûrst. Also imported German foods.
This place was sooo cute love the story... this German bakery has been here forever family owned.... they have alil deli and fresh pretzels and pastries... abit pricey... they have a European market...but not the friendliest place ...
Perhaps I would rate them higher, but it's just a little too soon to tell. I just visited the place today and bought a couple of loaves of rye bread. The people were very friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in, but it seems to be a bit on the pricey side. So the loaves of bread may be a bit bigger than other places in which case it would be comparable. Some of the other items were Way beyond reach, evidently they get their German sausages from a company in Chicago so they're charging an average of $12 a pound for these. I'm sure they must be very tasty. I purchase two types of rye bread, one is supposed to be 90% rye and the other 50%. I have only had some of the 90% low, had it with dinner this evening when I arrived home. It tasted very authentic, especially texture-wise. But for a 90% rye, the color seemed rather light, and so did the flavor. I thought it would have a much heartier more distinctive flavor for being so heavy on the right, that's what I was looking for and I felt it should have it. Also, lots of bits of coarser grain in there, like a steel cut grain. Pretty challenging to the teeth, you have to have a real good set of choppers to be able to chew this stuff up well enough. But I just got it like I said, so I'm going to give it more time.
Excellent bakery with great pretzel rolls. Many German products. Just go there!
Visiting from out of town and just stopped here for a quick treat. The chocolate covered macaroon is the best I've ever had! Hands down, so good. I'd post a picture but they didn't last long enough to get one!
Best pretzel rolls and bread! Very nice selection of sweets, treats, staples, and a small deli case with the essentials. Overall excellent!
My family has been coming here for years (3 generations!) Great owners, quality deli meats, bakery, and misc. groceries! Best German store in Phoenix! ?? Sehr gut!
Paid $14.25 for a dry rye bread, 2 small Pretzel rolls and a piece of cherry pastry. We used to own a German Bakery and Deli. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Was looking forward to a good bread , it was so dry we had to give it to the birds.
I’ve been coming to this bakery for 20 years. Consistently amazing. The pretzels, pretzel croissants and everything else is divine. Kris and Emily will take care of you. Never a bad anything. If someone gives this place a bad review they have no real taste for authentic pastries. We live up north in Prescott and make the drive for baked goods for special occasions.Their grocery store has it all. Their Bavarian brats are smooth and delicious. You cannot go wrong.I would show a pretzel but as soon as I got home they disappeared.Try them out you will not be disappointed.
Superb eclair and almond horn, delicious almond coffee cake. Tried the rough mill rye bread, meh, will try the fine milled seeded next time. Love this store.
