The food is fantastic! Really cool take on Hawaiian themed food. Servers were great as well! We will definitely return. Ask for Ryan at the bar. Excellent service!
It's really a shame when you can't rely on one of your favorite restaurants to keep consistent. I always order the ahi tacos and Jawaiian Jerk Chicken plate. Today my togo order was so disappointing!. They forgot to put the cole slaw on my tacos and the portions were so chintzy, so not worth $17-19! They put a spoonful of black beans on my small scoop of rice (as a side). It was a joke! My husbands meal was also on the lesser portion side. Won't be going back if this is what they deliver. Tried calling the restaurant for the last 30 mins and it keeps going to a recording. How can a restaurant take orders if no one answers their phone!?! What a shame, we won't be returning.Update: NO ONE from management or the restaurant ever returned my call when I left a voicemail (because no one was answering their phone during open hours) letting them know about my order being incorrect. This is completely unacceptable. I even emailed the owner with her email address posted below reply and have not heard back from her. She was quick to reply to this review posting, but NEVER responded to my email since she replied to this review with her email to reach out to her. What a joke folks!!!
We made a reservation for a bigger group and had a lovely little area set aside for us. The service was great and very patient with us ordering as a group. They even promptly re-made a fish dish that was overdone, no questions asked. Food was delicious and the drinks were stiff. Thanks so much, we'll be back!
Place has a fresh open vibe set with a Hawaiian accents super friendly staff with super busy Friday and Saturday nights food is a tad stale but very delicious definitely recommend the drinks here
I like there place in line alerts. Once seated, I had to wait too long for the Mai Tai. I thot the fish on the ceviche was a tad mushy. The slaw had some sort of odd herb. The other items seemed fine with lots of choices. The highlight was the dessert...key lime pie, but the real winner was the Coconut Cream pie.
We first visited Hula’s in 2016 within a of year of moving to the Valley of the Sun. We’ve kept coming back. Love it then and since. Over the years, this neuvelle tiki joint has become one of our top go-to places in Phoenix, if not ‘the’ go-to rendezvous in Phoenix. We’ve grown to appreciate Hula’s even more after a recent visit to Maui! Both their locations are fabulous, but we have preference for the Phoenix locale. Early on I made comments on Yelp that after time I did not think did it justice, so here I am updating my first post. Wow! Tremendous! Mouthwatering! Extraordinary libations! Contemporary Tiki at its best! Fun! Hula’s is great! From drinks … Hawaii 5-0 being my personal fantabulous cocktail ever, the Pain Killer not far behind, a superb Tropical Itch as well as Dr. Funk, not to mention their impeccable bar standards (the bartender mixes drinks faultless) … to eats – let’s talk Moco Loco! A main fave! Its only second best that I experienced since Maui – the best in the Valley of the Sun! Fish cakes, fantastic sweet potato fries, the potstickers are to die for, Thai Fish Cakes are superb, an incredible Beef Bowl, a mouthwatering Surfrider Chicken Sticks, shrimp rolls, fried calamari, fish bites… the list goes on, and on. Then there’s the atmosphere… a modern contemporary enterprise that brings the traditional tiki to the present without losing its carefree, low key, relaxed and a comforting setting to the fore… to service… you’re made to feel at home or in a cozy surrounding. The staff, management and even the customers are welcoming and feeling and exuding the vibes… to atmosphere… Islandish, chic and fashionable, making you feel chilled, warm and tranquil, without any overwhelming nostalgic unconventional abstraction of a made-up feel of strange aspects of unique… to comforting… a place that makes you simply enjoy life in a relaxing and tranquil way, yet inspire you to camaraderie and reverie… to cleanliness… every table, the environs (and needless to say, the restrooms) are pleasant, clean and tidy (especially during our dealings with COVID), and you name it, it has passed our grandest expectations over and over again, making Hula’s our fave eats, imbibing and munching as well as chilling place in the Valley! Bon appétit Islanders and Landlubbers alike!
A Neighborhood Gem! Delicious food and great vibe! Wonderful appt hour with generous portions.
This was my first time visiting Hula's Modern Tiki on High Street. The place looked fun from the outside. The moment I walked in I spoke with the hostess I felt right at home. The clientele was very fun and friendly, and so was the hostess. We ordered several drinks called, Hawaii Five-O, Hawaiian Hurricane and Dr funk. They tasted super delicious! We ordered Hawaiian Spare Ribs and a Hawaiian Ribs Sandwich, but we shared a Hawaiian Ceviche appetizer. Man, the ceviche was incredibly delicious! Hula's Modern Tiki was a great choice as our evening ?spotlight!✨ The food ? was great, and the drinks were even better! ?? ?
HORRIBLE SERVICE!! We went to the Phoenix (7th St) location on Mother’s Day, BUT it wasn’t overly crowded. We were seated in a side room that was dark, the floor was dirty, sticky and there was broken glass where we were seated. My husband asked the waiter if someone can clean it, and the waiter had an attitude. When the guy came to clean it, he used a wet towel to wipe the floor but did NOT get the broken glass that was on the floor. We asked for a different table 3 times and finally my husband went to the front to ask AGAIN and they finally got us another table in the main dining area. We waited 10-15 minutes for our waiter to come take our order. Our food was lukewarm. 95% of the staff that we interacted with seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back!
Really nice dinner. Very well taken care of and the food was delicious. The burger with the fried spam was great and the spicy chicken bowl was really good too. Food portions were big enough to share for sure.
