I ordered 2 mac and cheeses and 12 wings with mac and cheese and fries and yams and string beans. I received the incorrect items and tried calling and they Never answer the phone. I would like my order remade correctly and to top it off it was also hair in the food so my mom was out of almost 50 dollars and did not get to even indulge and it any of it. I was truly so excited to try this place. Bummer
My sister and I really tried to give this place a chance, we truly did but it was probably one of the worse experiences we have ever had.To start off we get there at 12:30pm and place our order, the attendant at the desk says it will be about 30 min. No issue; we wait in our car. We walk back to the restaurant at 1:10 pm and the door is locked. The attendant comes to the door and apologizes that he did not know they had a big catering order and they have to take care of that first. He says if we come back at 3pm he will make sure we have extra stuff. Again, still no issue for us as we live very close. We come back at 3:30 pm and the attendant who saw us earlier asks us what do we want… after he took our order earlier the day. My sister told him our order again and he says it will be about a 45 minute wait. We really wanted to support a black business as we haven’t seen much since we moved here. So again we didn’t express our frustrations, we said no problem and we again waited in our car.At 4:25 pm we walk back in and the attendant says to us we have no rice for your oxtails but 5 minutes later says sorry we do have rice and I’ll give you extra for the wait. The chef has also walked to the front of the store at this point and is telling another customer to not tell people he gave him food as a courtesy for an error on THEIR part. He tells him numerous times “this is a business, we doing this because we have to but don’t go telling people.” He then continues to loudly tell him, “don’t forget the tip. There’s a jar right there.” Finally our food is ready at 4:56 pm. I walk to the counter and the chef yells at me and says “can you cash app this?” We immediately paid our food and left. After seeing their all day struggle for very little orders we should have checked our food before we left. Not only were they both completely wrong orders and tasteless, but we were missing several items. My sister calls them to inform them of the issue and their response is we were very overwhelmed today. We absolutely get that, which is why we never expressed our frustrations with them throughout this whole ordeal. But there was no sincerity to fix the issue, no offer of a refund, and no apology. We paid $41.98 for food we didn’t even get. It was very disheartening to see how they treated their customers in person but even more to see their response after we tried to support them numerous times in one day.
The food is okay. We got the fried chicken and fried tilapia. The chicken lacked in flavor and was very bland. The fish was good it had flavor and after about a 10 minute drive home it was still very crispy. The sides were okay as well I got rice and gravy the rice was kind of hard and undercooked and the gravy was okay. We also order fries and they were okay as well. My fiancé did say that the yams were good but the Mac and cheese was okay. One thing I also noticed when waiting for our food it seemed like the cook kept getting confused about our sides and asked the cashier about 5 different times which order has the rice and gravy then she also kept asking about how to package the food as well. But overall the service was good they were friendly also had a cute little baby there too. Not sure how soon we will be back but we may give them another chance but I don’t think it will be anytime soon unfortunately it just didn’t hit like soul food should hit.
I saw that this place would be open on Sunday, but no one was there at the posted opening time (11:00 am). Tried to call the posted number and didn't get an answer. I would think if they were going to be closed for Thanksgiving weekend a sign would have been put on the door. Maybe I'll try again another day.
Always try to call them, no one ever answers the phone. :(
Highway robbery. For 3 smedium pieces of chicken with 2 small scoops of sides and no drink totals almost $17 if not $17 after taxes.I can't support black owned business like this, you go to many of soul food restaurants in the U.S. and the portions are your money worth.Go to Dulan's or Chef Marilyn's kitchen in L.A. and sometimes you can get food 3-5 dollars cheaper with huge portions because some food sides are $1 or $2 dollar and they tax you reasonably on the meat. And it actually taste good too.Response to owner: Yea this is a past experience; seems you completely MISSED the POINT.Portions are most definitely not what you just mentioned and you overcharge for a little of nothing.I rather eat panda express and support them then ever come here again.
They look pretty good. Can't really rate them until I try the food but when I ordered one line to pick up they was closed when I got there. Business hours are not accurate..
The fried lobster was delicious. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Oxtails are falling off the bone. The sides are just as good. AZ struggles with good side dishes! This place hits the bullseye. Highly recommend to try them out and see for yourself!
Loved the food but loved the staff even more. They are new to the restaurant Industry with a lot of guts opening during a pandemic. Black owned business as well, and to be managing the way they are I tip my hate to them. I pray their business thrives in the right direction. Oh, and did I say the food was fantastic. Anyway, good luck on all you endeavors.
The wait was a little long but it was well worth the wait! The best soul food place I’ve had since living in Arizona. HIGHLY SUGGESTED.
