We had the tuna tataki and tempura shrimp roll. Tai nanbazuke, the pork yakibuta and hana an mitsu dessert. Nothing really blew us away. We have had better sushi around the valley. Definitely did not live up to our expectations as one of the best Japanese restaurants around. The items on the menu were exciting to fantasize about but falls short of delivering. The service was above average. The ambience is nothing special. Before eating the food we were planning to come back. Now, not so much.

After reading the reviews, we decided to come check this place out. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. We had ikura with quail egg, okonomiyaki, spicy tuna roll, and a rainbow roll. We have never had okonomiyaki before so we can't compare it to a previous experience, but we loved it!Everything was fresh and properly rolled. Nothing fell apart on us. Service was attentive. It's no wonder this place is BUSY. We will be back!

Some serious Japanese food served by loving people. My new favorite when craving Mom’s cooking. This is the best Japanese food in Arizona. The real dealio. The okonomyaki is over the top.

I could not be more proud of chef and her staff. The attention to detail is there, you can't miss it. Excellence in Japanese food. The sushi is outstanding. The tempura is done right. There's a reason she is a James Beard award semifinalist.

I only came to this restaurant because they had okonomiyaki on the menu. The sushi roll quality was insanely poor, it was like eating risotto soggy rice on the Lil Dyno roll. Poorly rolled, impossible to eat with chopsticks, roll instantly broke apart. The customer service was very slow, that I didn’t want to wait extra to order dessert. And server got my order incorrect I ordered hot green tea, and brought me bottled green tea and a glass.

In town visiting my Aunt and she highly recommended Hana. We got there right when they opened, so we were seated immediately. They brought waters out as soon as we sat down which was lovely. The staff is so friendly and answered any questions we had about the food. I got some sushi rolls, the Shrimp Tempura roll and the Lil Dyno, both of which were absolutely divine. My aunt had some tempura and Soba which was fantastic as well. Highly recommend!!

Unassuming Japanese eatery nestled near uptown. This establishment is the real deal for Sushi in Phoenix. While the menu certainly offers something for everyone, Sushi is what WE came for.We selected two rolls (Hana Pride, Spider Roll) , as well as Snow Crab and Sea Bass Nigiri. You can initially tell how fresh the ingredients are. The fish was delicate and sweet. Your typical Sushi accompaniments were next level as well.Everything from the tea cups to the service was wonderful. I recommend this spot to anyone looking for top tier sushi in the Phoenix Metro area.It is no wonder Chef Lori Hashimoto was nominated as a James Beard Semifinalist for Best Chef in the SW region.Thank you for a memorable meal

We chose this place because we like Japanese food, the chef had been nominated for a James Beard award, and the could support my wife's gluten free diet. I even emailed them about supporting gluten free diets in advance and they provided a quick and detailed response. Food is very good, though portions are a bit small (so plan this when ordering - my wife needed to order more food). Restaurant is quite casual (could do without TVs being on), but the service is excellent.

On 2/27/22 at 7 pm we came to have dinner here for a birthday and the server was not professional and the food was not up to standard we honestly expected more. We ordered a sushi roll that was not good tasted very fishy the “ Lil Dyno” we told the server it was not good. The manager spoke to us and She said “ oh well that’s how it’s made”. They charged us for it didn’t offer anything else. I’ve never been to a place where this was done, usually they would offer something in replace or take it off the bill. All the food tasted really fishy even the chicken not sure if they had the food sitting together or what. I wouldn’t recommend coming here I was so excited because it was one of the top Japanese food places in Phoenix. Highly dissapointed don’t waste your money.
