Shared parking lot with some street parking available, as well as some paid lots in the area. Takes cash and card. There are four- and two-top tables available as well as bar seating (yes, with beer and wine available). As soon as you walk in you're feeling a little more Southern than you did a moment ago, with the motif reminding me of mom and pop restaurants back in GA and TN. You will be quickly greeted by one of the staff, who are all-smiles and accommodating. The menu isn't huge, as Gus' sticks to fried chicken and the usual fixings tbat come with it. So far, I've enjoyed the chicken (of course) alongside the Mac and cheese, beans, and slaw, and everything has been very good!As someone originally from the south and has had their fair share of fried chicken, Gus' is definitely recommended both for the grub and the experience!
We were elated to find Gus in Phoenix! Chicken were served hot & very crispy indeed. Fried okra was delicious too. The sides were all great. Nothing bad at all. We enjoyed our meal very much. Staffs were friendly and attentive, service was excellent. Parking was easy too.
Fell in love with Gus's in Atlanta, so ecstatic they finally opened here! And this location did not disappoint. The food is exactly what you expect. Good southern cooking with a little kick in the chicken. Perfect sweet tea, not the oversweet stuff must places peddle. But the best thing about our visit? Our amazing server, Floyd. He had such a kind, genuine soul. Service was amazing, but really loved getting to chat with him and get to know such an amazing human. AZ needs more people like him.
Let's just start off with, finally an Gus's Famous Fried Chicken in Downtown Phoenix. Connecting the dots to bring downtown back and people coming here to enjoy everything again.I'm impressed with the setup and location and also being this is my first time trying it outside of the Memphis, TN area they did not disappoint.I ordered the 2 Piece White with an extra thigh, with the baked beans and switch out the slaw for the Mac and cheese.Added a Sweet Potato Pie and chess pie. Make sure you come out and support this "Historical Blacked Owned" business. You won't be disappointed!
While visiting phoenix, we stumbled across Gus world's famous fried chicken. It was not. My family and I drop by and you would almost think that they weren't used to having guests, it was a stare down haha. We receded and it didn't take long to have our order taken because it wasn't a crowd. We ordered fried Green tomatoes, I can't front I thought they were delicious with the side of ranch. I ordered three wings, whole wings with a side of coleslaw and potato salad and that's what on top of a piece of white bread that was kind of stale. My husband ordered four tenders, I cannot remember the sides, my sister ordered two piece dark meat with coleslaw and okra, my daughter ordered three piece tender with a side of macaroni and cheese and fries. My son ordered two piece white meat, his sides were macaroni and cheese and potato salad. Each meal was to come with either ranch or honey mustard,They brought out two, we were, we were a party of 5. Requested more ranch was told that it would be 50 cents, it dies the young lady that we never received it. Lo and behold it was still on my receipt. It's cool not going to make a fuss about it, will pay the funky 50 cents and never return because it's not worth it anyway ??♀️
This was my first time trying this place....what can you say??? NOTHING BAD, that's for sure! Staff was friendly and proud. Food was incredible. Chicken arguably the juiciest fried chicken i have ever had. Perfectly crispy with just a touch of heat. Sides were all very good as well. Potato salad is usually all mostly the same but this had some unique flavor. Food came out fast and as hot as possible, had to wait a few minutes to eat. Everyone in here seems very happy. Will return for sure
So, the fried chicken (obviously) is fantastic. Like, really, really good. Each piece was perfectly cooked, the batter is slightly sliced and makes you do that kind of annoying eye roll thing at whoever you're sitting with. The staff was attentive, borderline bored since it takes about 20-30 minutes per order, but we're all friendly. The sides are good too. Nothing to write home about but who cares? One really weird thing, the side of fries is $6.50. While they're good, this is an absurd price. It's like one potato worth of food. A potato at Trader Joe's is like, 69¢ or something. It's not like they're using some bizarre Scandinavian spud that only grows in the graves of fallen clan chiefs or something. They're just hot and salty. I was absolutely gobsmacked. It's like they put that in the menu as a "don't order this, stupid." I wasn't upset, since I took the chance, but I had assumed that their "medium" was going to be like 5 Guys or something, sharable, for that price.Anyways, if they have a special, grab it, enjoy, and don't order those damn fries.
The chicken and collard greens were delectable paired with golden honey. Our server was sweeter than the sweet tea. Overall a great experience.
Dang oh dang that's some good fried chicken! The chicken was perfectly spicy (I only like a little spice) and perfectly juicy! Fried okra was great and the coleslaw was sweet, just the way it should be. This large amount of food was the special for only $10! I will def be back!
I didn’t think it was that great, it wasn’t what I expected, bake beans and coleslaw was good. It took forever to get our food, when there was only 4-5 customers dining in! With the pandemic virus still going strong the server not once did she wash her hands! She touched everything food, drinks, drink refill, trash, especially money! (Tips).
