Such an incredible meal! It was our first visit, so as usually we ordered a ton of food. Dumplings, chicken Padthai, Panang curry, and the Kao pad pu. It was all delicious, we sat at the bar, which is always our preference, and the bartender was awesome! Overall the service was just as great as the food!
been wanting to hit Glai Baan for awhile and drove past, did a u turn and went in. Yes, reservations are needed. Alone I asked to sit at the bar and graciously I was seated rather quickly on a very busy Thursday evening. Food and service were both above and beyond expectations. Will be back again, very soon !
We were visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this gem. Pulling into the place is where the adventures begin. Parking is tight. We couldn’t even find which door to enter. When we did we were transported to another dimension. Loud, boisterous patrons enjoying great food and great times. There was a 45 minute wait so we were sent next door to wait at a bar and they called the bar when our table was ready. Super cool! We have not enjoyed Thai food that amazing since going to Thailand. Amazing cocktails as well. This is more of a friend hangout place or fun date place. If you are looking for a pretentious stuffy restaurant this is not it.
We were in Phoeniex last week and this restaurant was recomended by a friend. Parking space is limited. Nice cozy Thai restaurant. It has a nice small patio. Took a while to get our food. Food was okay; however, the portion was suprisingly small. See the Pad Thai dish (plate with red circle). This was the smallest portion of a Pad Thai dish I've ever seen served from a Thai restaurant. A 20% after-tax gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Why do patrons have to pay gratuity on tax. I don't mind paying 20% for gratuity but it should be pre-tax subtotal, not grand total. I hope the owner of the restaurant reads this review and changes their tip calculation and their serving portion. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with this restaurant.
My bf had been talking up Glai Baan for months, raving about how delicious it is, and how wonderful the owners are. He had mentioned that it was near impossible to get a reservation without a pretty fair amount of time, so we hadn't even tried to go.. Until last night, for bfs birthday. It was a Wednesday, later in the evening, but the parking lot was still packed and we did not have a reservation, so weren't sure if we would have to order to go. We were greeted by the owner, Dan, who remembered my man and called him by name so warmly.. and though they were absolutely packed, he managed to squeeze us in at the bar. I honestly loved every single thing about my experience there, the staff was so warm and friendly. Its small and the way its set up is so cozy and welcoming. We were elbow to elbow with our neighbors at the bar, however it still felt like a romantic date, and was so comfortable. The playlist was fantastic and the the atmosphere and style of the restaurant made me want to be a regular there, before even ordering a drink or a meal! Max, our bartender and server was wonderful, and though he was very very busy, he never missed a beat with our service. I ordered a gin drink, which was absolutely delicious, with a really fun and unusual flavor profile. Both of our drinks were really delicious, then we ordered our food.. I ordered the Pad Prik King, with the crispy tofu and my bf ordered the special, which was a Thai style Sukiyaki with pork. Our food arrived and the smells were so intoxicating.. My dish was absolutely delicious, with the most perfect broth, crispy basil and the perfect amount of heat. I mean, every bite was like a gift of flavor. Bf was equally dazzled by his dish.. and my dish and probably would have taken bites off of other peoples plates if that was in any way acceptable. I ordered another drink, asking for a gin and tonic, and asked Max to doll it up however he liked, so he added some passionfruit and topped it with a lilac and it was sooooo delicious! The food was incredible, no joke, I was ready to make reservations when we left. I live in Tucson, but would gladly make the trip for the magic that Glai Baan offers. A lovely staff, a range of clientele, beautiful atmosphere, and the absolutely stunning food definitely left me wanting more, like all the time! Oh, additionally, because I mentioned it was bfs bday, they brought him out a delicious rice custard in a steamer with steamed bread for dessert, which was also out of this world, with a hint of pistachio flavor YUM. Though Ive never had the opportunity to go to Thailand myself, this experience felt very authentic and I love the flavor profiles from this region fo Thailand. I do want to add, that there are not too many options for vegans or vegetarians, but they seem so accommodating, so may be able to make certain dishes more veg friendly. ( My dish was veg, I'm pretty sure.) There are a few things, for sure, but just peek at the menu if you have dietary restrictions. I will be thrilled to go back in a few weeks for my birthday! I really can't wait. If you are looking for the coziest spot for some truly special Thai food made with love, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Glai Baan.
Finally made it to this Thai gem!! Love their authentic style street food! And absolutely loved that they had singha beer, just ordering it took me back to Thailand. Service was great and now I understand why it’s so busy!
WOW! really really good Thai food! Comforting to say the least! Highly recommend the dumplings & tempura fried mushroom appetizer! Everything we tasted was good! Get there early if you don’t have a reservation! It’s worth the wait though!
The service was spectacular, the food was wonderful and the place is super cute. I love how busy they are and the line wraps around the building. Be sure to make reservations or there is a high chance you will not get it or able to do takeout. Also the guy who was taking reservation was so kind enough to fit me into a fully booked weekend because It was my last weekend before I leave the state. The reason for my 4 stars is because the parking is a nightmare and I wish they would do something about it.
I have been to approximately 7 thai restaurants in my life, and Glai Baan was absolutely the best experience thus far.I don't know what magic spices are used, but they're enough to lure me out of my way next time I'm visiting Phoenix
OK so the food was delicious but it was the cute little garden patio that really makes this place a little magical. The dumplings were great as well as the drinks. Very affordable.
