As a Belizeans living in Arizona, where the only Belizeans restaurant I ever knew of was closed before I even tried, this place is a blessing.Only a few days ago a friend took me to this place and we had the lunch special and plantains on the side. Divine. That is the only description I have to say the food is perfect! The flavor was detailed and everything was hot and fresh. It taste just like food from my country! Now I no longer have to wait until I visit family in Illinois or take short trips to LA to get this food!!!! I love it.
We wanted Jamaican food and this was fairly close to home so we decided to try it. I checked reviews and for the most part, they were good. At 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, I wasn't surprised that we were the only ones there because it wasn't lunch or dinner time so we weren't thrown off by the lack of patrons. When we went in, we weren't really greeted, there was a man sitting on a stool in the corner behind the counter so I asked if we should sit and order or order at the counter. He said to sit anywhere. It took him a few minutes to come to the table and said they had no menus, we had to scan the code on the wall. The code didn't work on my phone so he had a tiny postcard sized menu that he said didn't have the right prices on it, I was finally able to see the menu and we ordered a medium jerk chicken meal and a curry chicken meal. We weren't given the choice of plantains or veggies, we were just served the veggies. The veggies were steamed cabbage, green and red bell peppers and were actually the best part of the meal. The rice and peas were really dry and tasteless, the curry wasn't very tasty and the jerk chicken tasted mostly like bitter vinegar, not spicy like jerk usually is. I didn't eat my meal but I brought it home because my husband said he would eat some of it. We won't be back. I would have also liked some cucumber juice but they don't have it so we ordered cokes. The meals were served in Styrofoam take out containers and the cokes came in a can with a straw. I didn't feel welcome or valued at all and spent 30.00 plus tip. I wouldn't recommend based on our experience.
It's a weird place. The food is actually excellent. Price and portion aren't too bad, and the menu has enough items for a few different visits/trials.But their hours seem to be very spotty. Many times we showed up smack during business hours and their doors were closed and locked.
There is no doubt every time I come here the food is on point excellent hot fresh delicious I recommend this restaurant a1000 times over Best Jamaican food in town and the customer service is amazing.. one love…
I ate there with my sister using a Groupon. Despite the Groupon it was pricey. The woman who normally runs things was not there so it seemed like 2 men were running the show. They were super nice but on Jamaican time. The guy at the counter seemed flustered so we were patient. We ordered drinks after our food while standing at the counter. I got my drink unopened and with no glass and my sis didn't get hers. But the guy moved on to helping someone else. I asked him to bring my sister's drink plus glasses with ice. Eventually my sis got her drink and we got plastic cups but they didn't have ice. I had to ask again for the drinks to be opened. Then we sat down and waited a long time for the food. While waiting my sis overheard one guy tell another customer that they were out of food. When we finally got our food my sis and I were disappointed in the taste. I don't know what kind of sauce was on the rice but we didn't care for it. I like jerk seasoning but there wasn't much of it on the chicken. All of this was very disappointing considering the price. I suspect things would be better if the woman who's normally there was there. But my sis and I won't be back.
Today was my first time trying this restaurant out excellent Jamaican food the taste was wonderful and great customer service.I will Definitely be back and plus the music was great #Great vibes only
This food was just amazing! Real soul food cooked with care and pride. Made me feel like I was home in London.
Amazing food for lunch and dinner! I had the jerk chicken and it was perfect. My brother had the oxtail stew and loved it as well. Highland recommend this if you’re in Phoenix.
Finally had an opportunity to visit this restaurant and it was amazing! Tried curry goat for the first time and I really enjoyed the taste!Side note about how fantastic the staff are:I stayed and ate dinner at the restaurant. I forgot that I had to hop on a Facebook live prayer with my church. There came a moment in the prayer when I couldn't hold back my tears. Once their employees knew that I was praying, although their music was not disturbing me because I had on headphones, they turned their music down and allowed me to have my moment with God. I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all thank you so much and I pray yall be blessed for the rest of your days?
After seeing a Jamaican restaurant on the food network we decided to go out of our comfort zone and try D's Jerk hut. We ordered the oxtail, goat, jerk shrimp and jerk chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious. The flavor profile of the jerk seasoning was spectacular. The curry on the goat was delightful amd the oxtail meat literally fell off the bone. The black beans and rice was a nice compliment to all the dishes. Steamed veggies were also delicious. We will definitely be dining at D's again
