***Char's Live [2.0] is much improved.(The Good)The band, dj & singers are always on point. Hopefully Lady Jae returns one day. The drinks are cheaper than average, seating is comfortable & outdoor is heated when needed. This is a predominantly 70's-80's baby group but some young folks sprinkled in. The catering outside is solid & fairly priced. The renovations were nice & appreciated. People in general are friendly & engaging with the staff frankly the best part. Valet is free (tip optional). Reservations are set online only & wisest 3-5 days in advance with a table $ ordering minimum. Same goes for the side vip rooms.(The Bad)The dance floor is the same size as before so make sure you are OK with people touching you. The AC is MUCH improved. Expect to sweat your edges out still if you are a High EFFORT dancer. They reduced the number of bar stools noticeably so the bar area is not for reclining but ordering. There is a sliding stall door in the men's restroom but only fits 2 at a time so could be awkward. The line outside is a strugggggle if you get caught up in it, prep your heart for a 1 hr wait IF THERE is a premier band. Normal groups, no wait. If your friends show up after, they can't cut or get it after you do. Limited non-reservation tables so be there early if you want a seat. Vip room includes a speaker, but not within eyeshot of love performing groups.***The punchline: Bang for your buck, this place is great & I'll be back. Cya tonight.
Great music that's why you go and that is what they provide reminds of some of the blues clubs in Chicago.
I recommend the whole environment, from the music, food and the people. From our vet's, corporate and street smart individuals. We all go in and we're all family and enjoy life.
I want to love this place again...but a mixed experience Saturday night. For a couple it was 20$ to get in, ordered drinks 25$, then told to sit was a 50$ minimum additional. But what made us leave was the band. This is not a showcase club. Only about half the people can see the stage, and the dance floor was empty. This place should have R&B bands that blow out the walls on Saturday... BTW staff were very courteous.
Was very dissapointed how this place handled their event. Bought tables then people were crammed in couldnt move, people pushed and shoved their way in our seating and viewing space. It was terrible. We left n didnt get to see Vaughn perform. Plus the place had noooo foooddd
Went last night. Paid $10 only to stand cheek to cheek, all tables had to be reserved. They said standing room only but there was absolutely nowhere to stand. Everyone was frustrated. Never again.
This is one of the best night club in town. Music is great, people are friendly, drinks and cover charge are affordable .One thing they can add is food services, but outside there is usually a food vendor.
Great club, good crowd and great music.Great club find with a great live band, fast bar, and good drinks. Went in on a Friday night and it was LIVE for sure. No line so that was nice and it was kinda late. Noticed they have some food outside, but they do not have an in-house menu...no big deal on that one but nice to know they have some food close by!Great band playing funk, r&b, and some rap covers. Really good actually and they keep the energy all night! The drinks are strong and the bartenders are paying attention.It was good to get on a dance floor again and plenty of opportunity out here! People love reviews so here you go......Classic Chars is no more.? I was so excited to be back in the house tonight. I expected a similar vibe from previous times. NOT AT ALL. Younger crowd, CROWDED. Do not sit at the bar because you will NOT be able to see the band. People who have nowhere to sit will stand right in front of your seat. All tables are reserved for bottle service ONLY, $75 per 2 person tables ? More of a club vibe. no longer a place for the 40+ crowd who leave work for a relaxing atmosphere of oldies but goodies.
Had so much fun! Tuesday nights is like an open mic night where anyone can perform for free. Got to meet some really talented people and share drinks and stories just like the good old days.
