I have never felt the need to leave a review on a business, but my friend and I were publicly shamed, and singled out last night while trying to enter Charlie’s nightclub/bar. My friend is from the United Emirates and has a slight language barrier. We both arrived and waited in a line to get in to this night club. It moved relatively fast. When we got up to the bouncer for him to check out ID, my friend went first and got his is checked, then I went second. While they were checking my ID, my friend accidentally dropped his wallet and he was called back by the bouncer. The bouncer told him he was no longer allowed to enter the club because he was too drunk. I never go anywhere, and genuinely just wanted to have a good night. The manager was also at the door and being very dismissive, didn’t even want to look at us for hear our side of the story. When we questioned the bouncer and the manager they just threatened to get the police and told me I was being argumentative which could not be further from the truth. The police men sided with the business but seemed confused as to why we were also not being allowed in. They recommended we go to karambas which we ended up doing and was welcomed in with open arms. They were so kind and welcoming and it finally felt good to be out again. I just want to reiterate, I am a very kind and humble person, and I was treated so poorly last night and it made me feel so awful to not be allowed entry. It is pride and our community needs to stick together. Times are so tough. Charlie’s did not care.
Amazing place to go for a fun night out. Only downside is some workers have a bit of an attitude. But maybe they just are a just sassy in general. But 97% of the workers are super friendly and such a fun time! The events they host are awesome and the drag shows will make anyones night more fun! I really do love going there. Only downside to the pool tables is that you have to leave your id at the bar and try not to forget its there.. But great time mostly amazing service and a lot of fun all around. Plus the taco place located in the back is so yummy!!! Definitely recommend at least trying it out. To each their own but i had fun :)
If you enjoy a low end atmosphere and a dated bathroom with bad urinals / sinks / empty soap dispensers during a pandemic and shotty hand dryers … low standards then you have found the best gay bar for you . Employees don’t care and can’t do anything about it . There are other locations in Nevada / Colorado. The managers and owners don’t care bc it’s a chain . It’s so and bc it keeps the Arizona gay scene from progressing .
This is my first experience in Charlie's Phoenix and I have to say that it is really Poppin. Wasn't expecting to feel the intense vibe on this gender neutral establishment. The service is prompt and the service is great ... I'm just in wow about this spot ... I can't believe that I've been missing out on all this. Great place. I'm rating this spot a 5 star because of the way the establishment feels. So welcoming full of energy. Come everyone and let's push to put this place on the map.. . CHARLIE'S IS ON FLEEK AND LETS GET THIS PLACE ...RECKOGNIZED BY THE TRUE TO THE SPOT LOCALS....
4/21/22: Look, I understand you have regulars that you're gonna engage in conversation with, but it's ridiculous when you're neglecting other patrons. Came here during happy hour, didn't even know because the bartender was insanely cold towards me. Very short with answers. I complimented the bar, they were still standoffish. This was the bartender that worked during happy hour around 3-4pm. They went to the back for like 10 mins leaving the entire bar unattended, and then proceeded to talk to other people and be on their phone for another 5. They finally showed some kindness after I had to show a bit of attitude towards them for their unfriendliness. They made smart remarks after they asked about where I worked, I told them I don't wanna say where I work since I don't know them. "Oh, you can't say where you work? So top secret" said with an attitude. Are you serious?? I don't appreciate the tone, I don't appreciate the service, it's not cool. Y'all need to check this bartender ASAP because he could give the wrong person this same treatment and all of this could've been a different scenario. Crazy, I saw great reviews of excellent customer service here, which put my anxiety at ease before coming. On some real s*, check THIS bartender and re-up them on their customer service and hospitality skills. I'll come back when that bartender isn't working.
Love this place! We’ve been twice so far since we moved here a couple weeks ago! HThe crowd is always fun and it’s always packed! Sometimes there’s a cover. What are the digital numbers that are on the walls in the club??
Great place to go to, lots of fun! I enjoyed everything about this place. The drinks are good and not watered-down, so you really get your money's worth. The taco food truck has delicious food, too! I will definitely go back with my friends!
Charlie's is one of those rare gay bars where you feel totally comfortable going by yourself. It has two dance floors, one inside, one outside on the court, it has entertainment and good music...and very handsome and friendly bartenders! I go here alone often because I know I'll always feel welcome. Oh, and they have really talented, friendly, and handsome go-go boys frequently dancing on the outdoor patio.....
Gay or Straight, this place is one of the "friendliest" bars in Phoenix. Everyone, including the bartenders, waiters, the guy that checks your ID at the door, are all super-friendly! As are the patrons. It's the type of bar you can go by yourself and still feel comfortable! They don't play a lot of country music these days, but what they do play is good dance music!
Was very packed when we went (Saturday, which is to be expected) however! Everyone was very friendly, drinks are a little steep in price, but their mixed drinks are strong. The dance floor was packed, and we didn’t get a chance to see the patio area but it seemed very chill and relaxed. Will come again next time we’re in town!
