This is a hidden jem, we stopped in for a smoothie before dance class and wished we could have stayed and skipped class. My kids loved learning about the two and getting to hold and talk to them. I am already planning to go back for breakfast and spend more time there. The staff/owners were wonderful and welcoming, the kids at the skate park who popped in to hang out were polite and raved about this awesome small business. They have skateboards, guitars, games and books to use if you want to sit and have coffee or a smoothie while interacting with the birds. They also have a full menu that I am excited to try more of in the future.

The tea here is top notch! High quality and brewed to perfection. Anyone who loves tea like I do will appreciate the smooth slightly sweet tropical black. Great customer service and enjoyed the personable style of the owners. Their macaw is also the most gorgeous bird I’ve ever seen up close!! This place gives a laid back California board walk type vibe that’s fun and inviting.
Coffee is very good and the the atmosphere was spacious and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and kind, and did not hesitate to adjust my drink to make sure I was a satisfied customer. The menu has lots of options and the setting is near some I'm parks and lakes, so I can wander off with my coffee to take a walk if needed. I recommend the horchata latte!
Sanctuary Cafe is an awesome hang out at Rio Vista Park. The customer service is top of the line. Steve and Matt made us feel so welcomed. The food and beverages are not the typical snack bar grub. Everything is absolutely delicious. Let's not forget to mention Steve's macaw, Gus who entertained our kiddos with his loving personality. Definitely recommend Sanctuary Cafe to one and all.
This might be the best pizza I have had in the area. Great atmosphere, huge selection of flavors for cappuccinos. And a friendly bird made my mom smile!
Just got a pepperoni pizza and a strawberry lemonade, which turned out amazing! The dough was perfectly made ? It's also right inside Rio Vista next to all the activities ??️
Places like this are why we have to support small businesses. The owner is one of the nicest people ever. Gus is the cutest macaw and made my day. The food is all so good, and he was even able to make me a special sandwich since I don’t eat meat. The cactus blossom tea is also really good! Overall, I think this is my new favorite coffee shop, and I can’t wait to visit again.
This cafe is located inside the park, they have food and drinks. Gus the parrot is stationed in the front. Don't forget to bring quarters, they have pistachios in a dispenser to feed Gus (the parrot). We got an iced mocha, hot mocha and an iced horchata latte. All 3 drinks were very good! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The vibe was relaxing. Will definitely be coming back with family and friends.
