We loved dinner here! The menu is simple and delicious. The calabacitas tacos were delicious. We also got a bean and cheese burrito, pastor burrito, quesadilla (cheese only for the kids palate), pastor tacos, lengua tacos, cheesecake, tres leches carrot cake, and flan. (We were a party of 7, okay?? ?) Everything was delicious. The horchata was a little sweet but not too sweet. The green salsa was medium-hot and had good flavor. The garage door in the front was open and it was nice outside so the atmosphere was very pleasant and it's fun to have all the foot traffic from downtown Mesa.Prices were very reasonable and service was very fast. You should go! ? ? ?

We’ve been here a few times before and have been impressed. The food is really good! But the service we had this last trip was absolutely garbage. The guy taking the orders (I think the same guy with glasses mentioned in another review) was rude, and I have absolutely no inclination as to why. We even put money in the tip jar, and he doesn’t even say “thanks”. Then he doesn’t print our receipt, without even asking us first. When the waitress brings the food, it’s the wrong order (another common occurrence I see in reviews). After a while she brings the correct order, but with an item we didn’t order. Instead of asking us “you didn’t order this?” she says “it’s on your receipt”. We tell her that we didn’t order it and we weren’t given a receipt. She says not to worry about it. A little while later she walks by and drops a receipt on the table and says “here’s your receipt”, nothing else then walks away. My turns husband asks if she refunded the item and she said “that’s your REFUND receipt”. Like really? We got no receipt in the first place, he was asking because it’s our money that they’re playing with and wanted clarification. We quickly ate our food, as we felt very uncomfortable being there as the waitress was slamming down chairs cleaning and the bartender dude was saying goodnight to everyone but us.I have no idea what we did. We literally walked in, took maybe 60 seconds to make up our minds, and ordered food. We didn’t cause a ruckus, or ask a ton of questions, or be rude in any way. This was such a terrible experience that even though we love the food and have been before, we won’t ever be back.

Love the flavor and the variety. Super quick service. Just the right amount of kick/spice.

Had the chicken quesadilla. Nothing fancy but definitely hit the spot after a few drinks from the nearby bars. The drink menu here looked very tasty - lots of classics - but I didn't order a drink. Only giving 4 stars because of the prices. A quesadilla and two tres leches cakes slices came to $26 which feels over priced for what I was getting. I'd revisit in the future despite this however.

Drove 40 miles and checked this place out because it was recommended to me by my dad, who saw it on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. We were greeted by a pretty chill friendly dude named Miah who gave us some great recommendations ? We all split Charo beans, elote, lengua taco, barbacoa taco, red beef potato gordita, green pork and bean gordita, and tres leches carrot cake. It was all fantastic! They have something for everyone and all spice levels. They make their own tortillas and salsas and even have a large local beer variety. Nice out door/in door seating. Bathrooms were clean even the soap smells good :) Thank for a great lunch! We will be back again

Excellent, excellent, excellent! Very specific culinary style from Chihuahua. Would definitely recommend to true foodies. Great service and explanation of the menu. The employees seem super excited about what they are doing with the food at Tacos Chiwas. Oh, and great '90s rock music blasting all the time!

Don't expect good customer service from this place Or don't expect gorditas when they open or have an expected time they may have them available. After reading all these negative comments, don't know how they continue to have such bad attitude with their customers. We were there shortly after 11am and tried to order gorditas and were told they just started with the gorditas and they were not available. Asked when they would be available and the cashier just shrugged her shoulders and couldn't give us an estimated time. I mean that's what they are mainly know for. So we left. Would not recommend this place just due to the rude customer service. I've eaten there the food is good but I won't again until they do something about the rude treats of the paying customer.

Super delicious and super affordable! Staff is friendly and the food is ALWAYS good! Definitely check it out, get the Chiwas tacos!

The food is great however, the service not so much. We arrived at 8:30 and closing time was at 9pm. Unfortunately they would only let us order to go and we couldn’t dine in. We waited for our food and asked if we could please sit down and eat (otherwise we would eat in our car) they said we could sit outside in the patio area. It worked out better since it’s easier to eat at a table especially with kids. Anyway, again great food but staff or management is more concerned about leaving/ closing on time. (It was 55 degrees outside)
