Stopped in for take out and left uber impressed. The staff is friendly, the environment cozy and clean and the food was delicious! Pad thai, extra crispy vegetable pot stickers and the coconut rice mango desert! So good!
I can't believe it took me this long to find this place! I haven't had Thai food this good outside of NYC. Incredibly rich and flavorful. We've ordered in from them twice this week and now we're in here fun a late lunch. The food is 100% consistent and I think this may be my new food obsession in Mesa
CONS:Their website says they have lunch specials but they don't. They seem to cut corners like the canned green beans in the red curry. Small portions for the price. Fast food vibe although it's a "sit down".PROS:Good and fast service. Clean.I really wanted to like this place.
Still five stars! I had a craving for Thai food yesterday and didn't feel like taking a chance on a new restaurant. Soda Bun has been excellent on our previous visits and yesterday they did not disappoint. Oh my goodness, I fell in love all over again. Each visit they have never had a large crowd. Heck, I think there have only ever been a couple other customers eating in - but clearly they have a pretty hefty take-out customer base. With this absolutely delicious food, I am not surprised. They young gal who took our order was super nice, too. I think this was our fourth visit and never had we had a bad experience. Soda Bun is totally worth the drive from Laveen. The rice fritter was a new starter for us and boy was it good. Their edamame is always hot & wonderful, the Thai tea is absolutely delicious, and holy smokes their sticky rice & custard are mouth-watering good. If we had stayed any longer I swear I would have ordered some to go.The three of us all ordered different meals and every single one was so beautifully presented it was almost a shame to scarf them down. One friend ate all of hers but my sister & I only ate half, knowing we would be getting the sticky rice for dessert. And knowing the leftovers are just as tasty the next day.Sadly, the leftovers did not make it to the next day. We both got hungry later that evening and ate them! I woke up the next morning depressed, knowing my Panang Beef was G-O-N-E. *giggle*
Found this place by chance. Not fancy yet comfortable. Had an amazingly good Tom yum chicken and shrimp soup. I requested thai hot spiciness. ?. It didn't disappoint at all. Service was prompt, and welcoming. Food served reasonably quickly, hot and with smiles. Definitely willing to go back. ??
I ordered the Work Wok Cashews meal, and not the lunch special because I was very hungry. The food was hot (Temp), fresh and tasty. However, considering the price, I expected more than three shrimp (It was a shrimp and chicken dish). Also, the shrimp still had the tails on them. I know some restaurants leave them on, but I know several that don't. Also, there wasn't very much rice with the meal. The water was good, with no aftertaste, but served in a mason jar type glass. I think it's to give the place atmosphere, but I used the straw provided because I didn't want the challenge of drinking from a mason jar.The service was good, the place was small but very clean. The table next to me had a couple that was watching a video on their phone. The lady's laugh was more like a high pitched cackle, and extremely loud! So loud, after multiple outbursts I was just about to move to another table, as far away as I could get because she was actually hurting my ears!. I don't blame the restaurant for a patron's actions, I blame the patron. Lucky for me, the video ended and they left, so I got to finish my meal in peace. I also had the fried banana with coconut ice cream. It's worth going to at least once, but IMHO they are a bit pricey for the amount of food you receive. I've been to better places, and to far worse places.
The food here is amazing. They have achieved the perfect combination of flavor and spiciness. Have tried green curry and basil fried rice so far and both dishes were delicious. Food is always fresh and piping hot.
A tiny restaurant with some good Thai food. We tried the veggie roll; it was a typical spring roll. The rice fritter was so good, it had a sweet cucumber sauce that fit the fried crispy rice. Beef panang curry was tasty. I had it spicy hot, but I could have upped it a bit personally. Tofu pad Thai was super good; med spicy was perfect. The noodles and flavor were excellent.
I've been to hundreds of Thai restaurants. The way soda bun does their pad thai is my favorite of them all. More sprouts and cabbage, thinner noodles and toppings. It's a way fresher bite.
dumplings were Incredible. peanut chicken was balanced and flavorful
