On the Border is a chain tex-mex restaurant that highlights the bar but has a good restaurant with decent food selections. The place is large with lots of seating. The staff is good. And the prices are reasonable for the large portions on the dishes.I used to go to On the Border about 25 years ago, but it was very popular and the quality of the experience, the wait and the over-worked staff caused the value go down. In the past year, since covid has abated, I returned. Surprisingly, I think the quality of the staff has improved, the best dishes are still here and prices have stayed reasonable. My go-to dish here is the Ranchiladas, which is a combo of a 9 oz mesquite steak (their fajita meat) and two cheese filled enchiladas. I love that spicy sauce it comes with. The other signature dish is there fajitas which I think is one of the biggest and best cooked of all restaurants. Their sides are decent too. The chips and salsa are strong with a nice zesty spiced up salsa. The monster chips are fun too. While I am not crazy about their rice and beans, the one really well-crafted item they have, as well, is the hand made tortillas, which I love. The staff we have regularly here are great. Today we had a lady named Terry who did an exceptional job of being helpful, efficient and very kind. After a long, tiring day of work (for both my wife and I) and having to eat late at 8:30pm, it was so nice to have such a positive person host and serve us this evening. I would have rated the restaurant a 3 star, but staff here is always so good that pushed it to 4 stars.

Started off good server was knowledgeable about dairy products. The drinks came in plastic cups I asked if I was happy about I said no and the just shrugged her shoulder and walked away. I odered the Fiesta salad, it was just a plate of shredded lettuce a few toppings sprinkled on top with a #24 scoop of beef on top. My daughter in law ordered a Fiesta bowl and it was the same it looks better in the photos until you get into it. Haven't been here in a few years and now I remember why. It has not gotten better. Sadly it was a special lunch and it was a bad experience

Every time we go we have a great dining experience. Food is always good, service is always good. Nothing over the top to report, just a good all-around Mexican food restaurant. IMO the best item on the menu are the fajitas, so do yourself a favor and try em out ;)

This was my first time at this location I would highly recommend everyone to stop by here and get some great food the staff was very friendly food was served fast and was amazing so I would highly recommend everyone to stop by and eat here ????

First time visit to On The Border. Have to say, it was a nice experience. Chips were brought out to the table right away. The hot sauce is quite garlicky (which I happen to like) and more tasty than spicy. Our waiter was on top of things. Once we got our order in, it was on our table in hardly any time at all. We ordered two different entrees, then split them between the two of us. Both entrees were chicken and both were very good. Even joined via app and next visit will result in a free dessert. There's no doubt that we will be visiting again soon.

The food and drinks are fantastic!! I will definitely be going back!! Family friendly and outdoor seating

The happy hour prices were fabulous on margaritas!! The food was the worst Mexican my party of 7 had every had!! We waited 45 minutes for our samplers on the happy hour menu!! When we finally ordered our dinners, it took another 30 minutes!! The food was dry and tasteless and not at all hot to our liking!! The chimichanga was supposed to be fried crispy was not at all looked in the fryer and also the appearance did not look like it had been fried at all!!! I ordered the Mexican which was supposed to be “new” to their menu, but it came out cold, and not appealing, so sent it back without touching it and it came back Luke warm with the chili not crisp at all due to nuking it!! Was very disappointed and embarrassed to have taken my birthday party to this restaurant and location!! The food from my home town in Rapid City, SD, On the Border is so much better!! I hope your experience is better than ours was!! ??

Can't give this place five stars. But it's a good place. Great patio. Tip ask for the there alarm salsa if you like spicy.I loved my crispy chicken taco. But the relleno was average. Don't like tomatio salsa on peppers.Great service also. Appreciate the manager checking on usPlenty of diet Coke refills.

I don't recommend this spot ladies. I have been to this restaurant a few times now, and an employee named Sam B., has overstepped her professionalism time and time again. But leaving her number on my receipt for my husband was the last straw. I have never felt so disrespected by a server in my life, I'm surprised she's employed.

How did I not eat here sooner? Lol. I always pass by here on the way home. Decided to order out takeout and man was it delicious.1: Friendly staff. Always asked me if I’ve been helped.2: Fast service. Put in my order online and it gave me a 45 min estimate. I got there way before that and it was already to go.3: The food… Everything from the generous portions of chips and salsa, to the entrees were excellent. Food tasted real good. There were some items I wanted to try, but didn’t get to. I’ll order those next time. The ones I did have though were absolutely fire. I’ll definitely be coming back!
