Great restaurant! We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere and activity of Chandler passing by us. There was a DJ, who was playing all the best music and made it difficult for us to want to leave when our meal was over!We started with fried okra; so good!Drinks were Rooster Punch, Lo-Lo's Punch, and red Kool-Aid. The punches have alcohol and were really good, but that red Kool-Aid was the best!My friends ordered the #7, chicken and waffles, and they said it was delicious. I tried the waffle, and it was perfectly cinnamonny, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.Another friend ordered the Big Azzz sandwich, and yes, it was huge! He was mmmm-mmmming the whole time he was eating it. He did finish the entire sandwich!I ordered the soul food platter with catfish, collards, mac n cheese, and a cornbread muffin. It was all delicious, and I was able to take half of it home. It's definitely a two-person meal.I highly recommend Lo-Lo's. The service did start out slowly (we weren't checked on for the first 20 minutes we were seated), but once we talked to the hostess as she walked by, she got our drinks going and the service from the waitstaff was good from that point on.
Finally had great service provided by our waitress, typically the service is lacking. However, she couldn't fix the incompetent host. We went in for breakfast yesterday morning at 8:30am. At the time we were the only table there, we were a party of 7 (3 of the 7 are littles, a 7 year old, 2 year old and 3 month old). Another party came in shortly after us and instead of spacing us a little, we were basically sat on top of on another. It was so bad we moved our tables a little bit so we could all have some sort of space. I thought maybe it's to make it easier on our server, somewhat understandable, but we had different servers. The cleanliness of this place is lacking as well. When we were handed our stack of menus, they were all stuck together. Initially, I thought they had just been cleans and weren't completely dry leading to them sticking together. That was not the case, they were filthy. Thankfully have small kids we had wipes on hand to clean our menus. The chicken was way over cooked and parts were dried out almost like jerky. They were out of lids for the kids cups, but our waitress had a solution (she was really awesome). My husband ordered a side of candied sweets and they came out ice cold, he thought maybe that's how they served them (strange but trying to go e the benefit of the doubt), he asked our waitress and she said they should be hot and replaced it with new hot ones. The waffles tasted great though, thank God.
Haven't been back here in a long time based off the past visits here in the Gilbert location. I frequently visit the Scottsdale location and find that location exceptional. This visit didn't let me down as my visit was horrendous as unfortunately expected. We were seated quickly and that was the only speed of service given. It took 15 minutes to be greeted as our server and everyone else looked at us and continued on their way. Once greeted by a trainee and her trainer finally acknowledged us. Order was taken but it took another 25 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. They sat at the bar after being made for 12 and half minutes. We then received our appetizer which was wrong and immediately received our food which was wrong also. We drank the drinks anyway as we didn't want to wait any longer period for watered down drinks. The appetizer was taken but replaced with an incomplete order as they had runout of the item we ordered. The appetizer came again but was after we almost finished our dinner. When asking for the check it still took a long time to closeout our visit. I do understand that the times are tough in the restaurant world but there is no excuse for our entire visit to be like this. But as I stated before this location offered this same service way before the pandemic was here. I offer this review with mixed feelings because this restaurant is a locally owned business but I must give an honest view of my experience.
Food is GREAT! Just plan on waiting a while for you food ( it is worth it though ) The stupid fries are our favorite! We also really like the fried okra and we never leave without the banana pudding! Super fun spot and they have koolaid on tap. Highly recommend!
My food was fresh and delicious. I had 1 large waffle with sprinkle on cinnamon and butter with warm syrup and two fried chicken thighs. The Thighs was crispy and not overly greasy. The waitress gave A+, she provided friendly service, such as tidying up table and checking us to ensure our meal was satisfactory. It feel like getting real service something I have missed during the pandemic. I usually have breakfast at this location. This was a good 1st time dinner experience. Sorry forgot to take a picture this time.
The food was the best I've had for fried chicken and waffles. All the employees were working they butt off...Highly recommend if you have never been to this southern type of place. Can't wait to go again.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time and boy I was NOT missing out on anything! We waited almost an hour for our food (it would’ve been ok if it was worth the wait) our waiter was the bartender so it was almost like having no waiter at all!! Husband and I were so disappointed, my husband waffle was cold, as it had been seating there for hours.. I ordered a salad, they forgot the avocado, the chicken looked as if it fell on the floor and they picked it up and put it back on the plate! My stepdaughter chorizo and eggs with potatoes was burnt! Just terrible! I don’t recommend this place and won’t ever come back!
We dined in at the Gilbert Lola’s on 30 Dec 2021 at 5PM.We were seated, I was surprised that the restaurant had just opened it’s front door at 5PM.The place was cold, too cold.I ordered shrimp Mac n cheese, my wife ordered 3 piece chicken. She wanted mashed potatoes, but our waitress told us they weren’t ready, hmmm. My wife also ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The waitress didn’t tell my wife what pieces of chicken she was getting, when my wife asked her, she told us it was random. So my wife asked for thighs. My dinner came first, then the waitress brought my wife 3 breasts with greens. It wasn’t what she ordered at all. The waitress went back and brought the correct order out. We were still waiting for the appetizer to show up. The waitress explained that it was taking a long time and she would take it off the bill. My wife ate her meal, my meal was over seasoned and shrimp overcooked. I finished all but one shrimp and didn’t touch the Mac n cheese, if that’s what it was. The tomatoes arrived and my wife ate one. The bill came to $56.00 for the chicken and shrimp Mac n cheese. I did have sweet tea, my wife had water. So, when I go to a restaurant, I expect it to be comfortable inside. It was too cold. I also expect the items on the menu to be available, no mashed potatoes? In my opinion, you failed. The waitress apologized for my food. It was my mistake to eat there, I apologized to my wife. I thought it would be much better.Very disappointed. Can I get a refund for $56.00, I cannot recommend LoLo’s. I won’t be back.Another thing, just because a restaurant makes fried chicken, doesn’t make it soul food, if that was the case K- Fry must be the boss. My wife wanted me to go to Churches…
Just a piece of Lolo 's famous red velvet cake to take home ......as always , the best!!
I arrived 30 minutes before closing. Although they were already cleaning everything up they seated me without hesitation. This was my first visit and my first thought when the food came out was "this waffle isn't going to be big enough". It was! I had a thigh and leg with it and it was plenty. The food was prepared perfectly. The chicken was crispy and had great flavor. The waffle with butter and syrup...delicious! I will definitely come back around next time I'm in town!!
