Dark Sky recently expanded to the building next door which allowed them to open up a really awesome looking beer garden with a whole new food menu. Unfortunately, it's 21 and up. The first time we went, my husband and I took our 1 year old on a slow, early afternoon and were allowed to be seated outside and got some beers no problem. The second time, however, we got kicked out. We did the same thing: went in the early afternoon when there were barely any people outside. But before we could order beers or food, we were told to go to their original location next door since that was the "family friendly" area. However, they only sell pizza there (which we don't think is that great) and not their new menu, so we left. I was later told that they didn't allow kids in the beer garden for "safety reasons," apparently their street corner (Birch and Beaver) is very busy with traffic. But this is clearly BS since other beer locations, like Pay & Take and Lumberyard Brewing, have patios in much busier areas and they allow kids. We get the feeling they want to be the "cool" childless beer garden (which is the opposite of beer gardens in Europe, but okay) in town without wanting to offend the families who want to visit them. This is fine, but be upfront about it. We used to be loyal customers prior to the pandemic and our baby, and were hoping to come back now that the weather is nice and our baby is older and well behaved, but we don't want to go to a place where we're clearly not welcome or wanted.
The girl carding at the door was super rude. I came here to get Pizza with my wife and 3 kids and she ID’d my wife. She said they are really strict about it which I can completely accept. But I watched to see if she was carding others and I only saw her card 1 other person the whole time we were there.Food: got the simple salad and it was incredibly bitter. The margarita pizza was really tasty but again the dough had a really bitter taste for some reason which I wasn’t a fan of.
Excellent little spot hidden in the middle of town! Great drink selection, amazing pizza and fun atmosphere! Outdoor seating was perfect and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly! Will definitely be back again and highly recommend this place!! Thank you!
We stopped here in order to try some of their brews. We had some tastes but weren't impressed with any of them enough that we would fill a growler. We found a nice corner in the back with comfy chairs to taste their brews.
You will have two servers here: One for the brewery, one for pizza.Would highly recommend making a booking - We went on a weeknight and it was a 45 minute wait.Margarita pizza was out of this world!Would love to see gluten free pizza options in the future. The brewery had a large number of low gluten beer options including a tasty bake sale blueberry cheesecake.
Great wood fired pizza and beer, they partnered with a pizza place and there were servers for each. It was a little different having 2 tabs and 2 different servers, but it was an amazing place and I definitely recommend!! We went on a Sunday night after a long day of kayaking and they were busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table for 2 people.
I love this place!Good beer selection, friendly and efficient service, and great pizzas all in one place!Would recommend the Funghi pizza!
When you’re looking for that spot that has a great vibe and excellent pizza this is the spot! The olives are drenched in olives which is delicious and all the pizza is mouth watering. Would come back!
Wood fired oven pizza.... crisp crust right? Nope the crust had to be the soggiest I have ever had and I have eaten Garbage pizzas before. I honestly don't know how they charge $16 for these pies. Margherita pizza had 3 measly pieces of basil on a 6 piece pizza. Funghi pizza toppings were good, but crust ruined experience. I am sure there has to be much better options in this college town.
I drove by Dark Sky Brewing, the mural on the building caught my eye, so I found a place to park! Theyhad 10 beers to choose from, plus a pizza joint attached. I did a flight of beers, $9.
