Food was ok. No recycling! So wasteful using plastic and cup covers when we’re sitting in! Croissant was ok and so was coffee. But wasn’t blown away. This is a college town, we should know better and recycle!
My parter and I stopped at Late For the Train as we were heading out of Flagstaff and wish we could have gone again! The atmosphere was bright and cozy and the staff was wildly friendly. We ordered a vanilla latte and an espresso shot - both were so delicious! Although we didn't have any pasteries, they looked absolutely magnificent. With bright big windows, lots of seating, and views of downtown Flagstaff, we would have made Late For the Train our home had we stayed in AZ for longer!
Probably the best and my personal favorite coffee place in town. Lattes are made with the perfect amount of sweetness to offset the black coffee. Burritos are nicely priced and you heat them up yourself to desired temperature with the indoor microwave. Outside seating is tucked away nicely and often shaded during the summer months with a slight breeze and beautiful greenery.
Employees were amazing. The coffee is 10/10. Got a hot mocha coffee and an iced coffee with mocha and caramel super yummy. My boyfriend got the burritos they offered in warmed it up it was all good and I got the raspberry cheese danish and omg the raspberries were so fresh. I highly recommend them for a coffee stop
This place look very nice! is cozy and welcoming; specially design to sit comfortably to chat with friends. However, the quality of the coffee is average, and it took a while for them to serve it. Also, the offering of other things to accompany your coffee (i.e. sweets) is very poor (I'm not sure if that was because I went on a Sunday)
Location and vibe: nested in the heart of old town, vibe was pleasant as we arrived and saw.Food and quality of service: non of the staff members were professional and nice to start with , but with an espresso machine down, the just continued to take orders making a hand full of customers upset in a few minutes, worst was that no refunds were allowed even before they processed the order (with the fact that now espresso machine was available), they simply said “get something else, we can not refund”.
It's probably best you miss this train.Tables and counters were clean. Bathroom could've been cleaner and has the toilet positioned directly in front of an outside window which can be unsettling for some. Decor is neat and slightly industrial, very cozy. Straws and napkins were well stocked. Restaurant temperature was just right and the shop was very busy. Clientele seemed to be in their 30s.Staff was not friendly, not attentive, and hardly urgent, but at least their uniforms were tidy. Black coffee tasted burnt and was scalding hot. I asked if they had any cup sleeves, they didn't, and they said they double cupped the drink instead, which was hardly effective.Was not impressed and will not be visiting this shop again.
One of my fiancé and my favorite coffee shops. We’ve gone to Late for the Train since 2011. We have been to all of their shops but now that they only have one, we frequent it often. The employees are always kind and make all of their drinks with care. You can not go wrong with any of their drinks. They always have delicious baked goods as well as breakfast burritos. Their back patio at their current location is gorgeous with vines and trees. One of our favorite coffee shops in AZ.
Late for the train - what a great excuse to grab a cup of coffee! Especially when the coffee is tasty! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Although the espresso beans (portofino) isn’t what I was looking for, I was very happy to bring a bag of Colombia back to NYC! It was used for cold brew in the shop, and I was able to extract an amazing of cup espresso, with thick crema and intense fruity sweetness.
PLS. this cafe is so fun! i came here w some friends before leaving flag and IM COMING BACK ASAP. i got the medium roast “flagstaff” drip coffee and asked for 2 ice cream scoops instead of cream & sugar, and added some chocolate syrup :) IT WAS SO YUMMY! the girl at the register was so sweet & put up w us being confused first timers <3 the cafe itself is super fun, upstairs & down. MWAH thank youu
