Fine Dining American Wine Bar

Best in Flagstaff, high end yet casual; don't miss Bris. Good wine list; food creative and cooked perfectly; Francesca was truly a delight, service and personality. thanks for a superb experience.

May 17, 2022, 5:10 PM, no others seated. We did not have reservations so we were seated at the bar. I understand and expect nothing different. The bar tender-server was attentive and cared for our service well. The atmosphere was nice. This is the end of the positive. My wife and I have participated in excellent meals from Fort Worth to New York to the best in Amelia Island, Asheville, Ogunquit, Brentonwoods, San Antonio, and so on. We are not snobs of food. But we do not like being overcharged for tiny tiny portions that are not quality notr quality prepared. The first negative was asking if we could have a vegetables instead of starches. I recognized the bar tender-server did not want to approach the cook for a request. He came back and informed us of what we could have to be substituted. It was another starch. We purchased two scallops as an apetizer. I ate them both as my wife refused her scallop even though these were under cooked and fishy. The side sauce was excellent and helped pass the scallops. My wife ordered chicken and she turned down the starches. My wife is small. She is eating vegetables and meats we took traveling now after the meal because there was literally six bites of chicken and a mushroom. $36 My wine was good. I ordered prime New York Strip. I have a prime 1,600 pound beef killed each year. We eat prime steak when going out. This steak was not prime. I had to use a serated knife with multiple, 3 + cuts to cut through a 1 1/4 inch steak. It was select at best. It was cooked well. The flavor was fairly good, but the two halves were a maximum 7 oz finished at best. Steak shrinks 20% minimum. The price was ridiculous for portion and quality. I dislike making poor ratings. It impacts the staff, but my meal cost for two was $158.00 and I tipped $30.00. $188 and change for eight bites of steak and Six bites of chicken. My "broccoli" was not char flashed, but was burned. I had strong charred flavor in my mouth and not roasted crisp or slight char roast. The cabbage hearts were very bitter. I am sorry to the servers working hard to serve guests. BRIX, You are not sweet. You need better portions or fair prices for what you serve. You need vegetables which are not roots nor starches. Asparagus, artichokes, a imple green salad, broccoli spears, brussel sprouts, green beans, seared, steamed, or roasted are excellent and healthy. You need to get a choice Ribeye of 10 and 16 oz wet to start with. One inch is the best prepared cut. A thicker cut is too raw for medium as what I had was red and not a pink center. When you sell a $158 meal for two, you should deliver it. Justin

I had Mother’s Day brunch with my daughter outside on the patio. She had the steak and eggs, we shared the crepes and I had the shrimp and grits. Everything was full of flavor and a perfect combination of spices. And the servers were kind and attentive. I’d definitely return.

We dined here for dinner on Mother’s Day and the dull setting and bad attitude of the employees was such a turn off. There was no mention of Mother’s Day, there was nothing decorative on the tables, not a plant, flower or candle. Some tables had a fake candle. Outside they had these very awful plastic non see through wrinkled curtains dropped on all four sides- all the way to the ground and were seating people out there as well - it was stark and depressing and the attitude of the employees matched this. The meal was very average. We spent a week in the area and this was the only restaurant we would not recommend.

My fiance and I had some of the best food we've ever eaten. I wish I would have taken a picture because it was plated so beautifully. I ate things I don't usually like. We had their gelato for dessert and both of our eyes lit up. It is a scratch kitchen with local and organic foods. They sat us at a weird table in the middle of everything that they should probably move because it is even in the employees way. We asked to move and they kindly-without problem, moved us. The servers were great and we overall can't stop raving about our food.

A rather small choice of entrees, but my review did not penalize them for that. My main course was the rabbit sausage at $31. It contained three tiny pieces of sausage which were about one once in total. The sausage was ok, nothing to write home about and tasted about the same as any Italian sausage. The appetizers were priced nearly the same as the entrees, but were more meager. The wine I had chosen was good, but I was not able to get a second glass because they ran out. The exterior lighting was non-existent. We had to feel our way back to the car.

Great meal, great service!

We were there to celebrate my husband‘s birthday but we got unexpected result another party across us said that the speaker on her phone was too loud that was my husband‘s parents calling him to wish him a happy birthday. And he had the guts to tell us to lower the volume from across the table. I called the manager the one that was there at the moment and I explain to him the situation in the back and once he came to the side of the restaurant where we were at he came directly to us which first of all I had explain to him that the other party specifically if the gentleman on the White was getting aggressive with us. But I don’t know if it was because we were Hispanic he thought we were the aggressive ones trying to call most down first and did not say a word to the other party which of course they were white. Really disappointed with the managers management skills. I recorded the whole disgraceful event you can see for yourself here is the link I put down below https://www.facebook.com/100067605326383/videos/1658689834467445/

The attention to detail on every dish is mind boggling. Come hungry and order a spread of appetizers and main dishes. Do: save room for desert Do: make a reservation Do: expect food porn Do not: expect a live candle on your table (biggest disappointment- so much attention to detail and they use fake candles- big turn off)

Bolognese was absolutely delicious, and the sirloin was incredibly soft, and asparagus was so perfectly roasted The homemade pasta was really incredible, and made me ache for more when the dish was done. The maple bacon brussel sprout appetizer was a little too sweet, but was roasted perfectly. The purple cauliflower soup was a little thin, but had a good flavor. Chocolate mousse was very rich, just big enough for two people.Overall, the food was delicious, portions are really quite small, and cost is very high. With limited fine dining options in Flagstaff, this is one of the best.
