The food was good, the service was a little grumpy, but it seems they are understaffed. We got the nachos and artichoke dip, which were all good.

I stopped in here with a friend twice during a recent trip to Fairbanks. We dropped in for a late dinner one night and breakfast another morning. Service was great both times, the evening server was more engaging but both were great. The nachos were excellent and were a great late dining choice. In the evening hours the lounge is the only space open which feels like a cross between a nice - but not fancy, it is Fairbanks! - restaurant and a sports bar. It was comfortable and laid back. I am a big fan of corned beef hash as a breakfast food, and Zach’s was the best I have had, by far. No complaints, this is a solid choice any time of day.

We are staying at Sophie Station and saw the menu in our elevator so decided to give Zach’s a try. This is a small hotel restaurant. The prices are average for Alaska and the portion sizes were big. I had the French dip and it was a little salty. My kids had the chicken Caesar salad and the jambalaya pasta. The salad was delicious but the pasta was a little underwhelming. My fiancé had the New York Strip which was tasty and served with veggies and mashed potatoes. We ordered desserts to go and our favorite was the peanut butter pie.

We stayed at Sophie Station Suites for three nights and had two dinners and a breakfast at Zach's. It couldn't have been more convenient for weary tourists -- our room was just down a long hallway. And all three meals were quite good. Dinners were served in the bar area as the actual restaurant area is closed in the evening. The Breakfast was in the regular restaurant. Both are on the 2nd floor of Sophie Station Suites hotel. The Sunday night and Tuesday morning breakfasts were both excellent; service was friendly and prompt and our meals were very good. Our Tuesday evening dinner was not quite as good an experience; the bar was busy and a bit noisy, and our waitress seemed more interested in the drinkers than the diners. Nonetheless, the food was quite good and wait staff with a bad attitude is better than no wait staff at all these days!

I love good fish and chips. These were the worst I have ever had. Three possibly freezer burned cod about the size of a deck of cards, with about 3/8 inch of thick batter of unknown origin. I think they are cleaning out the freezer of leftover pandemic stock. Inedible. Chips were OK.

We ate here after a ridiculously long day of travel from the east coast in the age of COVID-19 where airlines don’t feed you anything more than trail mix. We were ready to chew our arms off we were so hungry. I got the salmon cakes with coconut rice and veggies and my daughter got the nuggets w/potato wedges. The salmon cakes were supposed to have an Asian flair with a teriyaki glaze. They really weren’t seasoned well at all. The rice was hard and clumpy (i.e., old) and had not a hint of coconut flavor. My daughter did like her nuggets. I ended up eating her potato wedges since my rice was inedible. The wedges tasted as if they were fried in old/burnt oil. I will say that we devoured it. But that’s really only a testament to how long it had been since eating a solid meal. The server called me picky because of the rice issue when I actually just prefer my food fresh.

Good open hours, very fast service, creative choices. We ate breakfast twice during our stay. Would go back again.
