I’ve should have known better when the owner of the restaurant is out on the street hawking his place. I had the clam chowder soup which the New England style was quite bland. Need to add plenty of salt and pepper to liven up the taste. The fish & chips were paltry in size for the $22 price. The fish (2 pieces) tasted fine but really for $22??? The beers served in cans were cold and good. The service was very good.
I liked the meal. The restaurant closed at 5:30 pm, not 3.30 pm. Go and have something unique.
On an Alaskan land tour after a Celebrity cruise. Heard great things about Soapy and the food. It was so good and so much fun. Funny but true story… his waitress did not show up for work so several of us on the tour became impromptu wait staff. I really thought it was a hoax and just part of the experience but it really was true. We all had a blast!! This is a must if in Fairbanks!
This place is amazing. True local atmosphere and food, the owner is welcoming and involved, and funny!!
This place is fantastic. The king crab burgers are amazing and the proprietor is very colorful and proud to be a part of Alaskan history! I definitely recommend that you give them a try!
Had a nice lunch of Chowder and Alaskan King Crab burger, both were Alaskan size, beating Texas size by 2x!! ? The owner was busy introducing the stories of his grandpa Mike Stepovich and his dad Mike Stepovich II, once the territory’s governor in 1958-1959 before Alaska became the 49th State. A little lunch history lesson ??
Good atmosphere, Friendly staff, food is passable. Abysmal service though. I asked for a check and had to wait like 15min to be told to pay up front. Had to listen to the "labor shortage" excuse, which means to me "I don't pay competitive wages and want people to work for next to nothing. Also SUPRISE, credit card fee at the end. Just incorporate the fee into your menu price so I know what I'm paying for up front.
Food was not worth the money. Low staffing, and just another tourist trap in downtown Fairbanks. Best to travel outside the downtown area for better quality food for better price.
Excellent Crab sandwiches and fries. Gotta try the Agave beer. Need service personnel, but who doesn’t.
$76 for two frozen fish lunches, grilled cheese and a soup. The halibut and cod are obviously commercially made and probably available at Costco. Each meal includes a handful of fries and two small pieces of fish. The place needs an intervention. It has potential but needs fresh food and staff. Hopefully they can get it together.
